What is Ryan Coogler’s Sinners about?
After seeking to escape their turbulent pasts, identical twins (named Jordan) decide to go back to their old hometown with hopes of starting fresh. However, they soon realize that an even more sinister force is lurking, eager to greet them upon their return.
As a gamer, I’m excited to team up with Jordan in Sinners, alongside some heavyweight actors like Hailee Steinfeld, known for her roles in True Grit and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. There’s also Jack O’Connell from Ferrari and Back to Black, Wunmi Mosaku from Lovecraft Country and Loki, Jayme Lawson from The Penguin and The Woman King, Omar Benson Miller from CSI: Miami and Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and Delroy Lindo from Da 5 Bloods and The Harder They Fall. This is going to be an incredible journey!
In collaboration with Sev Ohanian and Zinzi Coogler, Ryan Coogler is involved in the production of the film. Ludwig Göransson, Will Greenfield, and Rebecca Cho are the executive producers.
Ryan Coogler first stepped into feature film directing with Fruitvale Station in 2013. After that, he directed Creed in 2015 and later joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe to create Black Panther in 2018, where Michael B. Jordan played a key role. In 2022, Coogler released the sequel to Black Panther titled Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, which included a brief appearance by Jordan. Additionally, he has produced movies such as Judas and the Black Messiah (2021), Space Jam: A New Legacy (2021), and Creed III (2023).
Since the release of Creed III, Jordan has taken on a directorial role again; this is his first film since then. Previously, he has also appeared in films like Chronicle from 2012, Fantastic Four from 2015, Just Mercy from 2019, and A Journal for Jordan in 2021.
Sinners will be released in United States theaters on April 18, 2025, from Warner Bros. Pictures.
