Metroid Prime 4: Beyond shows off new planet, psychic abilities & new suit

We’ve been eagerly anticipating details about Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, but Nintendo has been tight-lipped about it. Fortunately, during today’s Nintendo Direct, we received a substantial preview of the game. As of now, there’s no set release date, but we did get a good glimpse at the fresh environment we’ll be delving into, some novel gameplay features, and even a hint at an intriguing new suit for Samus.

During the Nintendo Direct presentation at the end of March 2025, Nintendo unveiled a glimpse into gameplay for Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, revealing a fresh adventure on the lush planet of Viewros. This planet features a colossal forest revolving around an immense tree. Various creatures on Viewros are ready to challenge Samus. To assist in combat and exploration, players will uncover psychic abilities. These powers can be employed to alter the environment and solve puzzles, as well as bend Samus’s shots for hitting multiple targets simultaneously.

Beyond her psychic abilities, we witnessed a scanning tool being utilized as well. This feature allows Samus to navigate the environment and determine actions necessary to open paths. For example, scanning a rock indicated that a charged shot would shatter it. Towards the end of the trailer, we caught a glimpse of a stylish new red suit, which appears to be hidden within the game for Samus to discover.
