Metal Gear Solid Master Collection finally addresses fans’ most-hated feature

As a dedicated fan with over two decades of Metal Gear Solid fervor under my belt, I must say that Konami has managed to turn lemons into lemonade with this latest update for Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1. The initial launch was undeniably rocky, but the recent resolution patch has certainly smoothed things over – much like Snake himself sliding under a radar fence.

The debut of Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 wasn’t flawless, facing significant criticism due to its fixed 30 frames per second rate and relatively lower 1080p resolution that some players found disappointing.

As a devoted fan, I’d like to share some exciting news from Noriaki Okamura himself, who has been deeply involved with the Metal Gear series since 1998 and currently serves as Lead Producer on the franchise, including the upcoming Metal Gear Solid delta: Snake Eater. Previously, he expressed his sincere apologies about Volume 1 not meeting the expected standards, but rest assured, that’s all in the past now.

Metal Gear Solid masters its collection

Caught off guard, it seems like the recent game update has tackled some of those pesky resolution problems gamers, including me, have been grumbling about. If you’re curious, you can check out the details on the full update over at Konami’s official site – it’s all about boosting resolution and graphical quality now.

In the latest updates for both Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty and Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, a new feature called ‘Adjusted Mode’ has been added. You can find it under the ‘Display Settings’ section in the game options. This mode offers two choices: ‘Original Mode’, which keeps the game running at 1080p resolution, and ‘Adjusted Mode’, which enhances images up to 4K resolution based on your TV or monitor’s capabilities.

“Changing this setting will result in sharper visuals,” the devs state on the website.

Unfortunately, the original Metal Gear Solid lacks a certain feature and isn’t compatible across all gaming consoles. For instance, you won’t find an option to enhance resolution on the Nintendo Switch, and even some PlayStation 4 versions are limited to the previous settings.

The PS4 Pro has seen improvements following the update, despite the fact that the official site doesn’t mention PS5 Pro support yet. It’s reasonable to think that such support might become available in the future.

In addition to these games, improvements like upgrading in-game movies to higher resolutions (applicable to MGS 2 and 3) are appreciated. Additionally, controller settings can now be customized directly from the game menu (also applicable to the same two games).

Even though we don’t have a set release date for Delta just yet, actor David Hayter has shared a heartfelt message with fans, fueling their excitement as the expected launch draws near.
