Similar to many prominent tech companies, Meta has fully embraced artificial intelligence. To further solidify its position in this field, Meta is introducing a separate app for an AI companion, aiming to compete with models like ChatGPT. This new application is called the Meta AI App, and its developers emphasize that it offers a more tailored, personalized AI assistant experience.
Meta delved into specifics about its novel AI application in a blog post. Based on the Llama 4 LLM, Meta refers to the app as “the first step towards creating a more tailored AI experience.” Users can interact with the AI assistant via voice commands, and it will adapt to their preferences and behaviors to provide customized responses. Furthermore, there is a ‘discover feed’ that showcases what other users are exploring within the app.
Meta’s reaction to this is a direct one following the surge of OpenAI’s ChatGPT, an app that has been leading the app store rankings and is closely associated with the current AI fever. Prior to this, Meta had already incorporated AI into their existing platforms such as Facebook and Instagram. This was done by introducing chatbots and revamping search options.
Meta, similar to Google (Gemini) and xAI (Grok), has launched independent software for its artificial intelligence helpers, offering them as individual applications.
