On her Instagram Stories, Barrera initially posted about an article by Variety detailing troubles Disney faced with Zegler, labeling it as a biased “expose.” The post contends that the Variety report tried to portray Zegler as challenging and politically extreme, but instead comes across as making her appear “incredibly cool” and “honest to a fault.

Alongside the co-signed post, Barrera additionally posted a collection of four distinct Variety articles. All these articles were penned by the same journalist. The first three articles were previous Variety pieces detailing Barrera’s public stance on political issues, particularly her advocacy for Palestine over the recent years.

The most recently featured tale in the post is a piece on Zegler. Interestingly, it was noted by online fans that the same author penned multiple articles criticizing Barrera for being divisive due to her social media posts, which ultimately resulted in Barrera’s dismissal from Scream 7.
