Meet Pan-Indian filmmaker who charges Rs 200 crore as fees, working on Rs 1000 crore film and it’s not Karan Johar or Ayan Mukerji

As a devoted admirer, I can confidently say that this filmmaker is currently one of the most celebrated and highly demanded in the industry. His past achievements have graced both domestic and international stages with some of his films becoming blockbusters that continue to resonate worldwide.

Moving on to the present, he’s working on another major multi-regional production alongside a prominent star from the Telugu film industry. Can you take a stab at identifying this individual?

Yes, it’s none other than SS Rajamouli.

Meet SS Rajamouli, one of the biggest creators of pan-Indian cinema

As a devoted admirer, let me share that I, hailing from October 1973, am none other than SS Rajamouli – the cherished offspring of the revered Indian screenwriter V. Vijayendra Prasad. My ardor for storytelling ignited at a tender age, kindled by my grandmother who introduced me to the profound narratives of the Ramayana, Mahabharata, and Bhagavad Gita – sacred texts that remain close to my heart even today.

At the same time, influenced by her suggestions, the movie director grew fond of English movies, comics, and stories in books. This affection played a significant role in shaping his creative perspective later on.

SS Rajamouli’s foray into films

For the first time, cinema became a part of his life when Rajamouli began his apprenticeship under the experienced film editor, Kotagiri Venkateswara Rao, serving for a span of six months. Later on, he also lent his help to his father in film projects for an extended period.

After that, he shot several small-scale commercials and ads independently, with oversight from K. Raghavendra Rao. These projects often focused on social issues or political parties.

Following this, he made some smaller commercials and advertisements personally, under the guidance of K. Raghavendra Rao. These were usually centered around social causes or political parties.

SS Rajamouli also worked as a director for a Telugu TV daily soap opera titled Santhi Nivasam.

Commercial success with debut film Student No. 1

In the year 2001, it was SS Rajamouli who stepped into the role of an independent director for the first time with the film titled Student No. 1. This movie featured Jr NTR as the main character, and it quickly became a favorite among audiences, achieving commercial success at the box office.

Following this, he consistently released blockbusters and moderately successful movies in theaters, working with various actors throughout the process. Over time, Rajamouli became known as a ‘Popular Director’.

Magadheera, Eega, Baahubali, RRR and beyond

In due time, SS Rajamouli started churning out success after success in his projects. He collaborated with Ram Charan on Magadheera, a film that was an enormous commercial success. Afterward, he produced Eega, which not only resonated with the audience but also garnered international critical acclaim.

Ultimately, in 2015, he created his first masterpiece, Baahubali: The Beginning, which turned into a worldwide sensation. Featuring prominent actors such as Prabhas, Anushka Shetty and Rana Daggubati, the movie captured the hearts of fans everywhere.

After that came Baahubali 2, a significant achievement for the filmmaker on a worldwide scale. It went on to become one of the top-earning movies in India.

In the year 2022, Rajamouli created another remarkable film titled RRR, where he reteamed with his past collaborators Ram Charan and Jr NTR. To enrich the cast of this Telugu epic drama, he also brought in notable Bollywood talents Alia Bhatt and Ajay Devgn for significant roles.

In terms of box office performance, RRR outshone Baahubali 2 spectacularly and amassed a multitude of accolades, including two Critics Choice Movie Awards.

SS Rajamouli’s upcoming projects

Stepping into the present, I find myself captivated by none other than SS Rajamouli’s grand, international journey titled SSMB29. This epic tale stars the talented trio of Mahesh Babu, Priyanka Chopra, and Prithviraj Sukumaran in pivotal roles. What sets this project apart is its staggering budget of a whopping 1000 crores.

As a devoted fan, I understand why the creators are keeping things under wraps regarding this massive project they’re working on. They want to preserve all the secrets until the final product sees the light of day, avoiding any potential spoilers.

As a lifestyle expert, I’m thrilled to share that my upcoming production, in collaboration with the talented Mahesh Babu, promises to be an exhilarating journey across the globe. We’re crafting a high-octane action adventure reminiscent of iconic characters like James Bond or Indiana Jones, but with distinct Indian roots! This project is sure to take you on a thrilling ride, and I can’t wait to share more details as we progress.

As a lifestyle expert, let me share an exciting update: I’ve been following the footsteps of a visionary filmmaker who harbors a deep passion for the epic Mahabharata. He has openly voiced his ambition to bring this ancient tale to life on the big screen, and now, it seems that dream is taking shape. In fact, he has announced the casting of talented Telugu actor Nani as one of the pivotal characters in his anticipated project. Stay tuned for more updates!

SS Rajamouli’s massive Rs. 200 crore fees

Speaking of his impressive career trajectory, SS Rajamouli frequently grabs attention regarding the high costs associated with each of his films. At present, he ranks among the costliest filmmakers in the industry.

According to information from IMDb, the creator of Baahubali earns an astounding sum of approximately Rs. 200 crores per film. This figure surpasses the directorial earnings of Karan Johar (about Rs. 3 crores) and Ayan Mukerji’s fee for War 2 (Rs. 32 crores).

SS Rajamouli’s personal life

As a die-hard admirer, I’ve always been captivated by the glittering success of SS Rajamouli on the professional stage. Yet, what intrigues me even more is the enigma that surrounds his private life. In the shadows, there stands his beloved wife, Rama Rajamouli, a creative spirit who has graced numerous of his films with her exceptional costume designs.

In their earlier marriage, the filmmaker took on Karthikeya as her son (from another relationship). They further expanded their family by adopting a little girl they affectionately call Mayookha.
