If there’s been a time when you dreamt about encountering your beloved Outlander actors, attending an event in Sasnak City could be just the ticket! You’ll definitely want to snag one of the meet-and-greets – it provides a fantastic opportunity to engage in conversation with a cast member and snap some selfies. Generally, the meet and greets proceeded as planned, but on one particular morning, we experienced some delays due to various factors. On Sundays, photos and autographs are taken care of, however, missed meet and greets cannot be rescheduled because of time constraints. So, it’s crucial to pay attention to the scheduled times and any notifications regarding them if you have a meet and greet appointment.
The gatherings are intimate, limited to only 12 individuals who interact closely with the performers. This offers an opportunity for deeper discussions, where you can pose your own inquiries and let the actors share their experiences through storytelling.
Starting with selfies at The Gathering 2024
At gatherings prior to 2024, the customary start of the meet and greets included a conversation with the cast member. However, this practice was altered at The Gathering 2024, as the emphasis shifted towards taking selfies before any chatting took place.
You see, there are 40 minutes available for a meet and greet, and it used to be that the last 10 minutes would be for selfies. By starting with the selfies, there was a chance for more of a chat with the cast member. After all, people are more likely to get through the selfies when they know they still have a chat!
As a dedicated fan, I must say, the meet-and-greet sessions were held in two distinct locations. My personal favorite was nestled at the foot of the grand auditorium – a more intimate setting that really made me feel closer to the experience. The other took place in a conference room, and while it had a professional atmosphere, it somehow resembled a board meeting rather than a fan interaction.
Important rules to follow at meet and greets
During announcements, it’s crucial to adhere to some guidelines. The most significant rule is to avoid dominating the conversation. This isn’t an opportunity for you to share your entire life story. Instead, it’s a moment for everyone present to learn more about the speaker on stage. Of course, they might be interested in knowing a bit about you, but keep it concise!
There were some great stories to tell. Tim Downie talked about baking cakes, which is something he has spent the last few years doing with his daughter. Steven Cree talked about his love for the Chiefs. Various cast members shared stories about the books they’ve written or what they like to do in their spare time.
The cast members don’t discuss their relationships unless they choose to do so. They might casually mention something, but further questions about it are not appropriate at that moment. Similarly, politics is not a topic for discussion due to people’s strong reactions towards political discussions. Think of this as a dinner party with strangers where certain topics would be considered off-limits.
Please keep your bags and phones out of reach during our conversation at The Gathering. Taking photos or videos isn’t allowed during the subsequent meetings and greets after taking selfies. I understand that this might seem frustrating for some, but it helps everyone focus on the present moment. Plus, you’ll often find that you remember things more vividly in such cases.
While the meet and greets are among the more expensive parts of a Sasnak City event, they are certainly worth it. That’s especially the case when you get to sit down with your favorite Outlander cast members.
