When Vinayakan was arrested 

At one point, Vinayakan went to the Ernakulam Town North police station, leading to a commotion that resulted in him being called in. While there, he was found smoking and immediately given a fine. Additionally, he spoke disrespectfully to the law enforcement officials.

Based on the officers’ suspicion of intoxication, they brought him to Ernakulam General Hospital for a mandatory medical check-up. According to reports, this examination revealed traces of alcohol in his body. Earlier in the day, law enforcement had been summoned to Vinayakan’s residence due to disputes with his spouse.

Vinayakan’s “Oommen Chandy” incident

In the year 2023, Vinayakan encountered legal troubles due to a contentious video he uploaded on social media during the funeral procession of the previous Kerala Chief Minister, Oommen Chandy. Some spectators found the video disrespectful as Vinayakan expressed doubt about the significant media attention given to the late politician, querying “Who was Oommen Chandy?” He later clarified that his remarks were aimed at criticizing the media for exaggerating the event rather than making a personal insult against Oommen Chandy.

Vinayakan verbally abused a Dalit activist

In 2019, Mruduladevi, a Dalit activist and poet, claimed that Vinayakan had made inappropriate comments towards her during an event they both attended. She asserted that he had asked her to join him in bed while inviting her to the program. However, when contacted by Kochi Times, Vinayakan chose not to respond to these allegations and instead allowed Mruduladevi to take any necessary actions.

Vinayakan shared that he hadn’t known about the incident and didn’t maintain records of those who had contacted him. He felt that the allegations against him were unfounded. Moreover, if there was concrete evidence proving his involvement, he was prepared to face the consequences, including being apprehended and imprisoned.
