Meet actor who began her career as Bharatnatyam dancer, was trolled for 'cosmetic surgery' and is married to her former co-star

As I delve deeper into the captivating life story of Aditi Rao Hydari, it is impossible not to be moved by her resilience and grace. From her remarkable transformation that has sparked both admiration and controversy, to her blossoming love with Siddharth, her journey seems nothing short of a fairy tale.

This actress is well-known in the Indian film world and has appeared in movies produced in Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam, and Telugu languages. Her journey began as a Bharatanatyam dancer, but she has since become one of the most sought-after actresses. She’s had the privilege of acting alongside illustrious actors such as Ranbir Kapoor, Mammootty, and Ranveer Singh. Recently, she made headlines by announcing her wedding to her long-term partner and shared stunning wedding photos on social media that caused quite a stir. If you’re wondering who this star might be, we’re referring to Aditi Rao Hydari.

Who is Aditi Rao Hydari?

Aditi Rao Hydari was born on October 28, 1986, in Hyderabad to her father Ahsan Hydari, an engineer by profession and a Sulaimani Bohra Muslim, and her mother Vidya Rao, a singer and a practicing Buddhist.

Aditi Rao Hydari’s ancestry is just as captivating as her professional journey. Her parents belonged to the aristocracy of old Hyderabad. Her father was a descendant of Akbar Hydari, who once served as Prime Minister of the Hyderabad state, and also the cousin of Muhammad Saleh Akbar Hydari, a former Governor of Assam.

Conversely, Aditi Rao’s great-grandfather paternal side, J. Rameshwar Rao, was titled as the Raja of Wanapathy. He held a prominent position as a nobleman within the royal court of the Nizam of Hyderabad. Tragically, Aditi’s parents divorced when she was only two years old, and she is their sole child. Following the separation, while her father remained in Hyderabad, Aditi moved with her mother to New Delhi. Interestingly, the actress incorporates both her parent’s surnames into her own name.

Previously, in an interview with TOI, she expressed that she chose to retain both surnames, Rao and Hydari, as a tribute to her upbringing by both parents. The surname Hydari is uncommon, which led to her decision to keep it as well.

Based on various news accounts, Aditi Rao Hydari experienced a tense relationship with her father due to their parents’ difficult split when she was growing up. Later in life, her father got remarried, further complicating their relationship dynamic.

Aditi Rao Hydari’s educational background and early career are both quite impressive. She first pursued her education at Rishi Valley Boarding School in Andhra Pradesh before transferring to Lady Shri Ram College in Delhi. From a young age, it was clear that she had a strong interest in Bharatnatyam, as she started taking classes under the tutelage of Leela Samson when she was just 6 years old.

Aditi Rao Hydari’s filmography

It’s possible that some of you didn’t know this, but Aditi Rao Hydari started her journey in the arts at just 11 years old as a Bharatnatyam dancer. In fact, she was part of Samson’s dance group called Spanda, where she taught students and traveled across India and beyond to grace stages for performances.

In 2014, Aditi made her acting debut in the Tamil film ‘Sringaram’, playing the lead character of ‘devadasi’, a temple dancer. The movie was directed by Sharada Ramanathan and produced by Padmini Ravi, an acclaimed Bharatnatyam dancer. Aditi was cast for this role because Padmini was captivated by her dancing skills and her likeness to the famous dancer Shobana, which she had noticed earlier.

It’s noteworthy that the movie was praised by critics following screenings at multiple global film festivals. After its release in India, it garnered numerous awards, among them were three National Film Awards.

Instead, the movie Sringaram had a limited screening in theaters. In contrast, Prajapathi, a Malayalam film, had a full theatrical release in 2006, starring Mammootty. Notably, Aditi Rao Hydari made her debut in Bollywood with Delhi-6, where she played a supporting role as a woman living in a community that disapproved of spinsterhood, alongside Abhishek Bachchan and Sonam Kapoor.

Unexpectedly, my breakthrough moment arrived when I found myself sharing the silver screen with Ranbir Kapoor and Nargis Fakhri in the movie Rockstar. Although my role was relatively small and my screen time limited, my performance managed to captivate audiences. Post the film’s release, as several media outlets reported, I made a public declaration expressing my desire for lead roles. Remarkably, my wishes were granted, as I landed my first lead role in a Hindi film through London, Paris, New York (2012), opposite Ali Zafar.

In addition to Bollywood movies, Aditi Rao Hydari has also been featured in numerous South Indian films such as Chekka Chivantha Vaanam (2018), Sufiyum Sujatayum (2020), Hey Sinamika (2022), Kaatru Veliyidai (2017), Sammohanam (2018), Ponniyin Selvan: I (2022), Gandhi Talks (2023) and Maha Samudram (2021).

Aditi Rao Hydari trolled for cosmetic surgery

Aditi Rao Hydari, who appeared in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s hit series Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar, has been making headlines due to the striking contrast between her old and new looks that have emerged online. These images sparked a frenzy on social media with many people debating whether Aditi had undergone plastic surgery to achieve this remarkable transformation. Some users even criticized her for it.

Aditi Rao Hydari’s relationship and marriage

Beyond her career, Aditi Rao Hydari has been drawing attention for a while due to her romantic involvement with actor Siddharth. They first crossed paths on the set of Maha Samudram, where their affection for each other began to grow. It’s said that during filming, they grew quite attached and spent a lot of time together on set.

In a conversation with Vogue, Aditi reminisced about her initial encounter on set. She shared, “Upon entering, he greeted me with ‘Hello, lovely lady.’ Typically, such compliments don’t resonate. However, there was an authenticity in his words that left me and most of the crew laughing by the end of the day. Additionally, he arranged for ghee idlis prepared by his personal chef to be served to my team and I every day for the remainder of the shoot.

During the promotion of the movie, they always found time for one another, and this didn’t go unnoticed. While their screen partnership captured people’s hearts as a fresh duo, their real-life bond was equally appreciated by their fans.

At first, Aditi and Siddharth aimed to keep their relationship under wraps, but frequent public outings fueled speculation about their relationship. However, last March, they delighted fans everywhere when they confirmed their engagement with a beautiful photo showing off their diamond rings. The couple exchanged rings in a private ceremony at the Srirangapuram temple near Wanaparthy.

On the morning of September 16th, everyone was taken aback when Aditi and Sidharth suddenly revealed that they were already married, surprising fans who had eagerly anticipated their grand wedding.

For those not in the know, both Aditi Rao Hydari and Siddharth have been married before. Aditi was previously married to actor Satyadeep Mishra (now with Masaba Gupta) from 2009 to 2013. Similarly, Siddharth was previously wedded to Meghna Narayan until 2007. As the saying goes, everything that occurs happens for a reason. After experiencing the challenges of failed marriages in the past, they have rediscovered love in each other now.

Regardless of having an 8-year difference between them, Aditi and Siddharth have consistently overcome it to flourish in their love story. Here’s wishing this wonderful pair a lifetime of happiness and joy together!
