Ant-Man’s Kathryn Newton has joined the cast of Ready or Not 2.
Under the guidance of directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett from Radio Silence, the horror-comedy film “Ready or Not” premiered in U.S. theaters back in 2019. Starring Samara Weaving, it proved to be a success, earning $57.6 million globally on a production budget of just $6 million. Now, plans are underway for a follow-up movie.
By the stipulated deadline, Newton has become a part of the cast alongside Weaving for Ready or Not 2. As of now, it’s undisclosed who she will portray in the movie, since specific plot points are still kept confidential.
In the 2024 horror movie Abigail directed by Bettinelli-Olpin and Gillet, Newton took on the role of Sammy. Previously, she played Cassie Lang in the 2023 Marvel Cinematic Universe film Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. Her extensive acting career also includes roles in Paranormal Activity 4 (2012), Lady Bird (2017), Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri (2017), Blockers (2018), Pokémon Detective Pikachu (2019), Freaky (2020), and Lisa Frankenstein (scheduled for release in 2024).
What else do we know about Ready or Not 2?
Bettinelli-Oplin and Gillet, who were responsible for Scream (2022) and upcoming Scream VI (2023), will be back to direct Ready or Not 2. The original movie’s writers, Guy Busick and R. Christopher Murphy, will also rejoin the team. Additionally, both Busick and Murphy have taken on executive producer roles along with Chad Villella, Tara Farney, and Greg Denny. Meanwhile, Tripp Vinson, James Vanderbilt, Bradley J. Fischer, and William Sherak will serve as producers for the sequel.
A release date for Ready or Not 2 has not yet been announced.
In the meantime, you can stream the initial “Ready or Not” film on Fubo and FXNOW. Alternatively, you can buy or rent it on various platforms like Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, and others.
