Marvel has reportedly found a director for the long-awaited Blade movie.
For quite some time, Marvel Studios has been working diligently to launch a Blade film, with the announcement made by Kevin Feige in 2019 that Mahershala Ali will portray Eric Brooks within the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
Since last year, Ali made a brief appearance using an unacknowledged voice role in the film Eternals (2021). Unfortunately, the solo movie of Blade, which was initially scheduled, has experienced multiple delays due to numerous directors joining and subsequently leaving the production.
The upcoming Marvel film titled “Blade” was initially scheduled for release on November 7, 2025, however, the studio has decided not to provide a new release date as of now.
Who might be directing the MCU Blade movie?
From my perspective as a devoted fan, based on Jeff Sneider’s The InSneider, Kevin Feige has expressed his determination to continue with the project. Sneider hinted that Marvel might have found a new director for Blade, and while it’s not officially confirmed yet, it certainly seems like it could be Chad Stahelski.
Earlier this month, it was hinted in the World of Reel that Stahelski might have been considered for the upcoming project.
John Wick director, Chad Stahelski, has gained notoriety for his involvement in the entire John Wick series so far, having helmed all four main films. Additionally, he serves as a producer for From the World of John Wick: Ballerina and Nobody 2, set to be released this year. He’s also collaborating with Lionsgate on the reboot of the Highlander franchise.
Previously, it was mentioned that filmmaker Cary Fukunaga had been linked to the Blade movie at some stage. Regrettably, this collaboration didn’t materialize due to Fukunaga’s reputation for being challenging to work with and Marvel Studios seeking a more studio-friendly candidate. Apart from his work on True Detective, Fukunaga is renowned for helming 2015’s Beast of No Nation and 2021’s No Time to Die. Currently, he’s engaged in a new thriller film called Blood on Snow, which stars Benedict Cumberbatch.
