We’re all eagerly waiting for news on whether we’ll be returning for a second season, as it’s currently undecided.
Initially, it was believed that Erskine and Glover wouldn’t appear in the second season, but according to showrunner Francesca Sloane, who spoke with Entertainment Weekly in May 2024, those claims might not be accurate.
Sloane commented previously, “I had a conversation with Donald last night about this topic and we were amused because a news article claimed, ‘as per our sources,’ yet we questioned, ‘Who are these anonymous sources?'” He continued, “We crafted an exciting cliffhanger, giving it careful thought. It was one of the initial ideas we came up with. So, why would we prematurely resolve such a cliffhanger based on a news headline?
As a gaming enthusiast, I’m stoked to share that so far, only one character from Mr. & Mrs. Smith Season 2 has been confirmed, and it’s none other than Anora’s Mark Eydelshteyn. He’ll be stepping into the shoes of the new Mr. Smith!
What did Maya Erskine say about Mr. & Mrs. Smith Season 2?
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Erskine shared her ideas for the upcoming second season.
She expressed her enthusiasm for watching how relationships develop, explaining that it doesn’t matter if it’s John and Jane, or another pair, as long as we can witness the progression. The intrigue lies in exploring the dynamics of a relationship – handling topics like children or domestic life, set against a spy backdrop. If they continue to delve into such nuances, revealing how relationships intertwine with the world of espionage, that’s where the real appeal of this show lies for her.
Regarding the mixed rumors about Alana’s return, Erskine stated, “I completely get why there’s speculation. It was amusing when an article surfaced claiming we won’t be in it because no official announcement was made. However, as Fran put it, it’s like waiting for Christmas: Don’t unwrap the gifts before the big day. You don’t need to look inside early. I’m trying to keep quiet because I tend to talk too much, but if I could, I would reveal everything now. But I can’t. I don’t want to spoil it.
A premiere date for Mr. & Mrs. Smith Season 2 has not yet been announced.
