As a seasoned gamer and cinema enthusiast with decades worth of film history under my belt, I must say that Max’s recent expansion of the TCM hub is a move that resonates deeply within me. Growing up, classic films were not just entertainment, they were time capsules, transporting us to different eras, offering a glimpse into the lives of legends like Mickey Rooney and Cary Grant.
Max revealed today their plans to broaden their Turner Classic Movies initiative, introducing hundreds of fresh films and regular monthly events starting from this very month.
As an enthusiast, I’m thrilled about the recent investment in the TCM hub on Max! This exciting development means that the TCM brand will be growing significantly on the streaming service, offering a multitude of new movies. Moreover, it seems we can look forward to themed collections of carefully handpicked classic films – a treat for cinephiles like myself!
What is included in the TCM Hub expansion?
This month marks the commencement of an expansion, featuring the iconic Mickey Rooney, alongside movies such as National Velvet and Words and Music. The lineup will additionally honor Humphrey Bogart’s 125th birthday, adding his films Key Largo, Invisible Stripes, and It All Came True to our collection.
Royce Battleman, Executive Vice President of Content Acquisitions at Warner Bros. Discovery, stated, “At Max, we take great pride in our unwavering commitment to a rich collection of beloved and timeless films. Our recent addition of TCM titles enriches this library further, offering more enduring tales for viewers to enjoy and providing opportunities to immerse themselves in iconic movie scenes on the platform.
Starting in January, Max plans to honor the birthday of the iconic Cary Grant by screening his movies “My Favorite Wife” and “Destination Tokyo.” He’ll also be featuring George Raft films like “Each Dawn I Die” and “Red Light” on the platform. In February, they will offer a collection titled “31 Days of Oscars,” showcasing numerous Oscar-winning films such as “The Harvey Girls,” “Jezebel,” “Mildred Pierce,” “Neptune’s Daughter,” “The Last Time I Saw Paris,” and more.
Enlarging the presence of TCM (Turner Classic Movies) on Max provides viewers with another location to enjoy what they’ve grown accustomed to from TCM: a continually changing lineup of esteemed films showcasing legendary Hollywood stars,” said Michael Ouweleen, President of Turner Classic Movies.
