As a seasoned Criminal Minds fan who has watched every nail-biting episode since the series premiered, I must say that the upcoming return of Matthew Gray Gubler as Dr. Spencer Reid feels like coming home after a long and arduous journey. It’s been a rollercoaster ride of anticipation and speculation ever since the revival was announced, wondering when our beloved genius would rejoin the team.
Fans of “Criminal Minds,” brace yourselves! When the series makes its comeback in the new season of this popular show’s reboot, you’ll notice a familiar figure. But there’s an intriguing twist to the appearance of Matthew Gray Gubler as Dr. Spencer Reid.
Fans of “Criminal Minds: Evolution” have been eagerly waiting for the return of Spencer Reid to the team since its debut. It has been hinted that both Spencer and Daniel Henney’s character Matt Simmons are still working for the FBI, but they are currently assigned elsewhere.
According to the showrunner, Erica Messer, scheduling issues often prevented some individuals from appearing on the show. However, should their schedules allow it and they weren’t tied up with other commitments, they were always invited to return.
Dr. Spencer Reid will return to Criminal Minds
It’s been officially announced that Gubler is coming back to the show he starred in for 15 seasons, but with a twist: his role will be limited to just one episode. At present, Gubler is busy getting ready for a new character he’ll play on CBS’s upcoming series Einstein, where he’ll portray the great-grandson of the renowned physicist.
Though he seems to be featured in just one episode, his return will undoubtedly be exciting. Regardless of whether we get additional insights into Reid’s recent activities, having the beloved character back on screen is certain to be an enjoyable moment.
The final episode of Season 2 for the show “Criminal Minds: Evolution” concluded with the main villain, Elias Voit, being assaulted in a laundry room within the prison where he was confined. It remains uncertain if this incident was an attempt to secure early release as Voit is known for always staying one move ahead of the team, making it difficult to predict his actions.
Anticipating the way Reid will enter the scene. As of now, it’s uncertain if Simmons will rejoin the BAU team for the upcoming season too.
Henney has been engrossed in his personal project, the series titled “The Wheel of Time,” available on Amazon Prime. We’ll continue to watch for any news about his potential reappearance in upcoming episodes of “Criminal Minds.
In Season 3 of the show, details are yet to be revealed, but we can expect the introduction of a new character – Dr. Julia Ochoa, portrayed by Aimee Garcia. Her storyline revolves around a patient who experienced a brain injury, and there’s speculation that this might involve Voit or Luke Alves, played by Adam Rodriguez, as they are both expected to share scenes with her in the upcoming episodes.
