As a fan who has grown up with the magic of cinema and witnessed the evolution of diverse talents, I am absolutely thrilled to see Teyana Taylor and Sasha Calle joining the cast of Netflix’s upcoming thriller, RIP. Their addition to this already star-studded lineup is a testament to their versatility and dedication to their craft.
Teyana Taylor and The Flash’s Sasha Calle have joined the cast of RIP.
The upcoming Netflix thriller titled “RIP” is being helmed by director Joe Carnahan. Featuring stars Ben Affleck and Matt Damon, the premiere date for this movie remains undisclosed at the moment.
Per Deadline, Taylor and Calle have now both joined the cast of RIP.
Taylor has appeared in films like “Stomp the Yard: Homecoming” from 2010, “The After Party” in 2018, “Coming 2 America” and “A Thousand and One” in 2021 and 2023 respectively (with the latter winning the Grand Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival), “White Men Can’t Jump” also from 2023, and “The Book of Clarence”. She will soon be starring alongside Leonardo DiCaprio in Paul Thomas Anderson’s upcoming film that is set to release in August.
Simultaneously, Calle took on the role of Kara Zor-El/Supergirl in Warner Bros.’ and DC’s The Flash film, which hit theaters in the summer of 2023. Since then, she has starred in the films In the Summers (released in 2024) and On Swift Horses (also in 2024). Additionally, she played Lola Rosales on CBS’ The Young and the Restless.
What else do we know about Netflix’s RIP movie?
The storyline revolves around a team of Miami police officers whose unity starts to crack when they find large amounts of money hidden in an abandoned warehouse. As word leaks out about the magnitude of the confiscation, everything becomes doubtful – even the people they thought they could trust.
The screenplay for the upcoming movie is penned by the same person who directed films like Smokin’ Aces (2006), The A-Team (2010), The Grey (2011), Boss Level (2020), and Copshop (2021). Ben Affleck, Matt Damon, Luciana Damon, and Dani Bernfeld are all involved in producing the film under Artists Equity.
Artists Equity’s Michael Joe and Kevin Halloran are not only involved, but they also hold executive producer roles in the series titled “RIP”. It was just this past July when Netflix secured the rights for the movie.
