Masters of the Universe Live-Action Movie Casts Alison Brie in Villain Role

As a long-time fan of Alison Brie’s versatile acting skills, I couldn’t be more thrilled to see her take on the role of Evil-Lyn in the upcoming Masters of the Universe movie! From her hilarious portrayal of Annie Edison in Community to her voice work as Princess Unikitty, Brie has shown an incredible range and depth that will undoubtedly bring the villainous Evil-Lyn to life.


Alison Brie has been cast in the forthcoming Masters of the Universe movie.

It’s announced that a real-life adaptation of Masters of the Universe, produced by Amazon Studios, MGM, and Mattel Films, will hit theaters in June 2026. The young actor Nicholas Galitzine from Red, White & Royal Blue has been chosen to portray He-Man, while Camila Mendes, known for her role in Riverdale, will take on the character of Teela

According to The Hollywood Reporter, it’s been announced that Brie will take on the role of Evil-Lyn, a character who serves as Skeletor’s right-hand woman and is known for her villainous nature, in the upcoming movie

Alia Shawkat is widely recognized for her roles as Annie Edison in NBC’s Community, Ruth Wilder in Netflix’s GLOW, and Diane Nguyen in BoJack Horseman (voice role), along with other notable television appearances. She has also starred in various movies, including Scream 4 (2011), The Five-Year Engagement (2012), The Kings of Summer (2013), Search Party (2014), How to Be Single (2016), The Post (2017), The Disaster Artist (2017), Promising Young Woman (2020), The Rental (2020), and Happiest Season (2020)

Additionally, she voices Princess Unikitty in The Lego Movie franchise.

What else do we know about the Masters of the Universe movie?

As a die-hard fan, I can’t help but get excited about the upcoming project that revolves around Prince Adam of Eternia. From what I gather, this story is all about how, with the mighty Power Sword in hand, Prince Adam transforms into the powerful He-Man, boasting superhuman strength and abilities. Alongside a band of loyal companions, he bravely protects the planet from the malevolent clutches of Skeletor and his formidable forces. I can hardly wait to see how this epic tale unfolds!

The movie is being helmed by Travis Knight, who has previously directed films such as Kubo and the Two Strings from 2016 and Bumblebee in 2018. He’s currently engaged in another project for Laika Studios called Wildwood, which is set to hit theaters in 2025

Currently, Chris Butler is penning the script, though earlier versions were collaboratively developed by David Callaham, Aaron Nee, and Adam Nee

Masters of the Universe will be released in United States theaters on June 5, 2026.
