1. Basic Melee Attack: A simple strike with his fire-imbued weapon.
2. Charged Strike: Octav charges forward, delivering a powerful and fiery blow.
3. Combo Attack: A series of swift strikes that can quickly deplete your health.
4. Dodge Attack: A quick slash as he dodges to the side, attempting to catch you off guard.
5. Sweep Attack: Octav swings his dagger in a wide arc, aiming to knock you down.
6. Counterattack: If you attack Octav during certain animations, he’ll counter with a fiery retaliation.

  • Stab: Octav will use the dagger in his right hand to inflict damage on the players.
  • Fiery Stab: At random intervals, Octav will use the Sheathed in Summer dagger against the players, inflicting damage and the burn status effect.
  • Jump Attack: Octav will jump into the air and stab players with both of the daggers at the same time, causing significant damage and a chance of a burn status effect.
  • Healing Potion: Octav will randomly use a healing potion on himself, to restore some chunk of his health.

Best Strategy to Defeat Octav the Fireband

As you make your way into the zone, you’ll notice a group of dwarven warriors, led by Octav, strategically positioned among the Godless ruins. Instead of confronting them head-on, attempt to slip past these adversaries and deliver a powerful blow straight to Octav. Once the enemies are occupied, your allies will move in to protect your back.

In this combat situation, evade Octav’s attacks by sidestepping and counter with parries to disorient him. Note that a few of Octav’s Fireband warriors will charge towards your position, turning it into a 2v1 battle. When this happens, prioritize the use of flamethrowers or freezing projectiles for crowd management. By deploying enough freeze bombs in the affected area, you can immobilize both the boss and any surrounding enemies, giving you an opportunity to eliminate the mobs and deliver powerful blows on Octav.

Keeping Octav frozen won’t hinder his ability to consume the healing potion and recuperate his health. Therefore, it would be more strategic to concentrate on clearing the surrounding mobs instead, ensuring an interruption-free encounter during the boss battle.

After Octav falls, you’ll have the opportunity to retrieve the “Sheathed in Summer unique dagger” from his person within Avowed. This dagger is one of the top-tier starting weapons in the game, capable of dealing substantial damage to enemies and setting them ablaze as well.
