Over the past two years, his channel, “Masahiro Sakurai on Making Games,” has been consistently posting videos where he offered insights and knowledge about game development. In the final episode of his series, Sakurai announced that a new game is being worked on by him at this moment.
In the concluding part of Sakurai’s YouTube series, it becomes clear that he penned a concept for a fresh game following the launch of Sora as the last DLC character for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate in 2021. This idea was accepted, and plans for production were set to commence in April 2022.
During the gap between the greenlighting of his proposal and the commencement of development, Sakurai utilized his spare time by recording videos for his YouTube channel, as he waited for his team to be formed.
The confirmation from Sakurai is bound to spark discussions about his upcoming project.
