Marvel’s Most Powerful Hero Isn’t Captain Marvel, It’s [Spoiler]

As a gaming enthusiast, I’m pumped up about Eric Pearson’s recent confirmation of a significant change in Marvel’s power dynamic by designating the MCU’s most formidable hero going into Phase 6! In an exclusive sneak peek, the Thunderbolts screenwriter spilled the beans that the character portrayed by Lewis Pullman is now Marvel’s “supreme superhero.” The reason? His tumultuous origins and colossal strength are set to drive future plotlines.

Eric Pearson says Sentry is Marvel’s strongest hero

In a piece published by Gizmodo, screenwriter Eric Pearson revealed that the character portrayed by Lewis Pullman holds the title of the strongest hero within the Marvel universe. Pearson elaborated, “The Sentry is essentially an experiment that went either extremely right or wrong unintentionally. He has inadvertently become the most potent superhero.

In the series Thunderbolts, Sentry first appeared under the identity of Robert “Bob” Reynolds, a man who once struggled with drug addiction and was involved in Project Sentry. Unlike other participants, Bob managed to live through the project, gaining remarkable abilities in the process but also experiencing some memory loss.

Valentina Allegra de Fontaine locates Bob, outfits him in armor, and christens him as Sentry. The abilities he possesses encompass flying, generating intense heat, controlling objects mentally (telekinesis), and a power level that surpasses the collective might of all the Avengers combined.

Nevertheless, Sentry’s abilities are volatile because of his dark persona, the Void – a devastating energy that manifests when Sentry loses self-restraint. In the comic series Thunderbolts, the Void is released and captures individuals within its consciousness.

*Thunderbolts is a fictional comic book team in the Marvel Universe.

Despite the Thunderbolts managing to release Bob from the grip of the Void, he remains oblivious to the occurrences that transpired. Intriguingly, the film’s post-credits scene shows that Bob is now deliberately abstaining from using his powers to avert another resurfacing of the Void.

In the comic books, Sentry appears as both a hero and an antagonist, with the Void serving as his dark reflection. Marvel Studios echoes this intricacy in the movie adaptation. The character is poised to reappear in Avengers: Doomsday, joining forces with the Thunderbolts team.

According to Pearson’s assessment, Sentry now surpasses previous heavyweights such as Thor, Scarlet Witch, G’iah, and Captain Marvel in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), marking a significant shift in the power structure within the universe.
