First, let’s delve into the alterations in Marvel Snap that are coming up soon. The Spotlight Caches, a long-standing feature, will be phased out and replaced with a fresh system. This change was officially announced on the Marvel Snap website on Thursday. In their place, the Collector’s Shop will transform into a dedicated Card Shop, effectively retiring the Spotlight Caches. Players who currently possess Spotlight Keys will find them converted into Tokens, which can be exchanged for specific cards that will be available in Series Packs. This update aims to tackle an issue within Marvel Snap, where players have been reliant on luck when trying to acquire newer cards. Furthermore, this change opens the door for new cards to be introduced each month.
Returning to our chat about the upcoming series, Marvel’s What If…? season focuses on Captain Carter, who can be considered the main character for an anthology like this. Yes, she’s an alternate universe version of Peggy Carter, but instead of Steve Rogers, she was given the Super Soldier serum. This change in the storyline presents a fresh twist in Marvel Snap, as Captain Carter’s ongoing ability boosts any cards in a location’s back row (excluding herself). This new mechanic might require players to pay attention to the placement of their cards from now on.
The following cards are coming to Marvel Snap for the month of April:
- (2) Goliath (1) – Ongoing: +1 Power for each other Ongoing card you have in play.
- (4) Kahhori: Reshaper of Worlds (6) – On Reveal: Each card in your hand gives one of your cards in play +1 Power.
- (3) Hydra Stomper (2) – Ongoing: +1 Power for each time one of your cards moved this game.
- (5) Infinity Ultron (6) – On Reveal: Add 2 of Ultron’s Stones to your hand.
- (2) Strange Supreme (2) – Gains +2 Power from merging. End of Turn: Merge one of your created cards into this.
Ultron’s Infinity Stones, as opposed to those belonging to Thanos, exhibit unique characteristics. Here’s what we know about Ultron’s Infinity Stones:
1. Power Stone – Represents raw energy and is capable of harnessing the power of a star.
2. Reality Stone – Allows manipulation of reality and can change the fundamental nature of matter.
3. Soul Stone – Controls souls, allowing its wielder to manipulate the emotions of others or even bring back the deceased.
4. Space Stone – Grants the ability to teleport anywhere in space and control other dimensions.
5. Mind Stone – Enhances mental abilities, including telepathy and telekinesis.
6. Time Stone – Allows its wielder to manipulate time, both past and future.
Ultron has managed to obtain these powerful stones for his own purposes, making him a formidable adversary indeed.
- Infinity Space Stone – On Reveal: Move the lowest-Power enemy card here to the location of Infinity Ultron.
- Infinity Reality Stone – On Reveal: Add a Drone here. Set its Power to Infinity Ultron’s.
- Infinity Time Stone – On Reveal: Put a card from your hand here.
- Infinity Mind Stone – Ongoing: Your On Reveal abilities here happen twice.
- Infinity Power Stone – On Reveal: Double Infinity Ultron’s Power.
- Infinity Soul Stone: On Reveal: For each of your full locations, give one of your cards there +2 Power.
2 new spots are joining Marvel Snap in April: Sakaar Grand Prix awards extra +1 Max Energy to whoever leads by Turn 4, while Sanctum Infinitum works similar to Sokovia, disposing of a card from each player’s hand. If a player manages to fill this spot, it will be returned to them with a +5 Power boost. However, the interaction between Sanctum Infinitum and cards like Apocalypse and Scorn, which return to hand upon being discarded, is yet to be clarified.
In simple terms, the What If…? season of Marvel Snap will start as scheduled on April 1, 2025. Keep an eye out for the upcoming Snap Pack update on Marvel Snap, which is planned for April 29, but could potentially be moved to June 3 due to any unforeseen issues during production.
