Marvel Snap gets a jolt of excitement with High Voltage mode

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades under my belt, I must admit that the latest High Voltage game mode for Marvel Snap has piqued my interest. Coming from someone who’s played everything from Pong to Fortnite, this limited-time mode offers a refreshing twist on the traditional card game experience.

The new temporary game mode for Marvel Snap has been introduced. Unlike the main game and previous limited-time modes like Deadpool’s Diner, this one offers a unique twist. It provides a fresh perspective on Second Dinner’s card game and posed an intriguing design challenge for the team.

As a passionate fan, I can share that according to Ben Hayes, Design Director, while Deadpool’s Diner was primarily about Bubs, Snapping, and meta elements outside the main Snap gameplay, High Voltage is all about revamping the core mechanics of Snap itself.

Marvel Snap gets a jolt of excitement with High Voltage mode

In October 2024, High Voltage introduces a unique twist to the traditional Marvel Snap gameplay, shortening each session to just three rounds. Each round grants players an extra 2-5 energy points randomly, and they’ll draw two cards per turn instead of one. This innovative approach challenges players to devise new strategies for the compacted game sessions.

In summary, the creators of Second Dinner acknowledge that certain cards and locations extend the game or take effect after Turn 4, which is why they won’t be included in this mode. Specifically, cards such as Magik, Galactus, and Black Widow have been banned due to their potential to prolong games excessively. Magik, because of her Limbo ability, and Galactus, because he can potentially disrupt the gameplay if played early. Black Widow is also prohibited due to the mechanic of her card High Voltage drawing two cards for every new turn, which could provide an unfair advantage when combined with cards like Absorbing Man.

As a gamer, diving into High Voltage feels just as enticing as sinking my teeth into Deadpool’s Diner, but with a twist! Earning your way through this electrifying game comes with a sweet reward – a new card called Agony. This 1-Cost, 2-Power card has a unique ability to merge itself with any subsequent cards played in the same spot. Unlike Deadpool’s Diner, there’s no stress about Snapping and the consequences that come with it. You can play carefree, knowing you won’t be pushed back from reaching the grand prize. And here’s the cherry on top – High Voltage will also feature its own set of Missions, giving players even more opportunities to advance and reap the rewards in this thrilling mode.

Experiencing High Voltage offers a fresh take on the standard Marvel Snap adventure, and Second Dinner is creating buzz with this unique game mode by bringing back John Moschitta Jr., the iconic Micro Machines pitchman. However, this special game mode won’t last forever – it’s available to play starting today until October 24. If it turns out to be well-received, Second Dinner may bring it back later on. Keep an eye out for Deadpool’s Diner returning next month as part of the upcoming Marvel Snap Development Roadmap!
