Marvel Rivals currency will wipe after every season, making dailies useless

As a seasoned gamer with a decade-long gaming history under my belt, I must admit that I find myself at a crossroads with Marvel Rivals. The recent announcement about the wipe of Chrono Tokens at the end of each season has left me, and many others in the gaming community, scratching our heads in disbelief.

For Marvel Rivals players diligently completing daily tasks to acquire Chrono Tokens, NetEase Games has some disappointing news. These tokens, which are used to unveil items within the seasonal battle pass, have been difficult to come by due to the limited number of passes available.

Despite occasional struggles with misaligned shots, numerous players have voiced concerns about their advancement. To add fuel to the fire, NetEase has disclosed that Chrono Tokens cannot be moved over from one season to another.

Marvel Rivals Chrono Tokens will be wiped

In a formal blog update published on Christmas, NetEase disclosed the types of currencies that would carry over between seasons.

At the conclusion of each game season, Chrono Tokens accumulated from missions are reset. As a result, a fresh Battle Pass must always be obtained during its respective season.

In the game Marvel Rivals, where players can buy Chrono Tokens using real cash, NetEase is implementing a new regulation to prevent unnecessary spending. Yet, they mention that this particular rule is somewhat complex.

Players with the premium battle pass no longer need to manually redeem their Chrono Tokens at the end of a season. Since battle passes don’t expire, the tokens accumulated during that timeframe will eventually expire. To ensure you get the most out of your earned credits, the game will now automatically use any remaining tokens to purchase items when a season concludes.

At the conclusion of a season, any unused Chrono Tokens and unclaimed Battle Pass rewards will be automatically redeemed by the system in the default sequence. This process will continue until either there are no more Chrono Tokens available for redemption or all items have been claimed. If you forget to manually redeem some items before the new season begins, don’t worry – you’ll receive an in-game mail with a summary of your automatically redeemed rewards. However, it’s always best to redeem your items yourself before the season ends to avoid any potential losses of Chrono Tokens.

Despite fan complaints, the elimination of earned currency renders daily missions pointless once a Battle Pass has been finished. Previously, players who completed the initial Battle Pass could continue playing for daily mission rewards; however, with this change, their accumulated earnings will no longer be applicable.

However, it’s worth noting that Chrono Tokens appear to be the only currency affected by the seasonal shift. Any Lattice or Units earned through a season will remain after a season ends but, even so, players are upset.

After wrapping up my daily and weekly missions as a gamer, I find myself pondering if there’s any purpose left in battling it out in matches. To put it simply, it seems like there’s not much reason to grind for challenges once the pass has been completed, right? Is that what you meant?

Players have dubbed the removal of earned Chrono Tokens as “unmotivating” as there’s little incentive to play when the reward is taken away.
