Enthusiasts of the X-Men comic book series are bound to get thrilled as Psylocke, the latest character introduction for Marvel Rivals, has been confirmed by NetEase Games and Marvel Games. This powerful character is set to join the hero shooter when it releases towards the end of this year.
Psylocke is the newest addition to Marvel Rivals
The newest Marvel Rivals trailer gives players a peek at Psylocke’s duelist move set. Utilizing her psionic powers, she can dash short distances and cloak herself, making her invisible to her enemies until she strikes. Her ultimate ability combines her super-powered agility with her fighting ability as she dashes at each enemy, dealing major damage with her odachi. The video description also says she can use crossbows and shurikens, but that is not showcased in the trailer.
In a nod to the popular comic Demon Days: X-Men, Marvel Rivals’ Psylocke character design was collaboratively developed by artist Peach Momoko and the game’s artists. Japanese voice actor Alpha Takahashi has been cast to bring the psionic assassin to life in the game. Takahashi is known for her work in games such as Cyberpunk 2077, Starfield, and Ghost of Tsushima.
In feudal Japan, a wanderer named Sai – a powerful psychic warrior – is on a mission to eradicate ancient demons and monsters. Accompanied by her wolf, Logan, she’s relentless in her pursuit until all Yokai are defeated using her mental blade. The official account of her background tells us this. However, Sai was taken from her world by the Time Stream Entanglement and exhibited by the Collector. With new companions found, she broke free from captivity and discovered that other familiar fighters may still exist. Now, her journey has shifted to reunite those heroes, put an end to this struggle, and find her way back home.
Among the 26 playable characters in Marvel Rivals, Psylocke is one of them. Recently, NetEase Games and Marvel Games unveiled that Captain America and Winter Soldier will be playable from the get-go. Popular figures like Spider-Man, Magneto, Iron Man, and Loki are also part of the roster.
Starting December 6, 2024, the free-to-play hero shooter game titled Marvel Rivals will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and personal computers.
