Marvel Cosmic Invasion Trailer: New Video Game Pays Homage to 90s Comics

In the latest Nintendo Direct presentation, publishers Dotemu and developers Tribute Games unveiled “Marvel Cosmic Invasion,” an all-new retro-inspired video game showcasing several beloved Marvel superheroes.

What is Marvel Cosmic Invasion about?

Marvel Cosmic Invasion, brought to you by the creators of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge, is an arcade-style brawling game where players assume command of famous Marvel superheroes to vanquish the villain Annihilus. This game is reminiscent of the 90’s Marvel era and offers the choice to play as characters like Captain America, Wolverine, Spider-Man, Storm, Phyla-Vell, Venom, and Nova. Players must battle their way through New York City streets to eventually reach the Negative Zone.

In the MARVEL Cosmic Invasion, an ancient supervillain named Annihilus has initiated a never-before-seen assault throughout the galaxy. His actions pose a grave danger to all life forms as we understand them. Heroes from Earth and beyond must now unite in a grand interstellar journey against the lethal Annihilation Wave. Battle your way through the bustling streets of New York City, then venture into the dark realms of the Negative Zone, to thwart Annihilus’ promise of cosmic destruction.

Jean-François Major, CEO and co-founder of Tribute Games, expresses with certainty that the entire team is deeply honored to collaborate on MARVEL Cosmic Invasion. This opportunity enables us not only to salute the legendary Marvel characters but also the vintage arcade games that sparked our enthusiasm for gaming. With deep reverence, we meticulously invest every pixel with the attention and dedication required. Our goal is to modernize and advance the genre while preserving what made the originals exceptional. We are fortunate to have Marvel and Dotemu as partners who appreciate and share our passion. Together, we strive to bring this project to life in a way that exceeds our dreams.

Marvel Cosmic Invasion launches later this year on PC and consoles.
