Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio Attached to Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt’s Crime Film

The crime movie concept initially thought up by Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt has attracted Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio. As reported by Variety, Scorsese and DiCaprio are set to produce the film, which is based in Hawaii.

Currently, the movie is being marketed to multiple production companies and streaming platforms, and it’s been likened to blockbusters like “The Departed” and “Goodfellas.” However, no deals have been finalized yet. The project, which remains unnamed, will be written by author and journalist Nick Bilton, who was responsible for the 2021 HBO documentary “Fake Famous.” Interestingly, this isn’t the first time Johnson and Blunt have collaborated; they previously worked together on “Jungle Cruise.” After pitching their idea to Scorsese and DiCaprio, all four of them are said to have approached Bilton for scriptwriting duties.

To date, Dwayne Johnson, Emily Blunt, Leonardo DiCaprio, Cate Blanchett, and Ridley Scott are slated to collaborate on a forthcoming production. The specifics of the storyline are currently being developed, but Johnson and Blunt will star in an upcoming A24 film titled “The Smashing Machine,” directed by Benny Safdie. This project is anticipated to be one of Johnson’s most intense dramatic roles. Regarding DiCaprio and Scorsese, they have been recognized as a formidable duo in the industry for quite some time. They have previously worked together on “Shutter Island,” “The Departed,” “Gangs of New York,” and last year’s Academy Award-nominated “Killers of the Flower Moon.” Keep an eye out for further updates about Johnson and Blunt’s upcoming film.
