Mars reveals the results of the Global Pet Parent Study

As a passionate pet lover myself, I find it heartwarming to see such a comprehensive study by Mars, aiming to understand the needs of both their human customers and our beloved pets. Having grown up with dogs and cats, I can attest to the transformative impact they have on our lives, serving as companions, confidants, and sources of joy.

Mars isn’t only interested in learning about your sweet treat choices; they also aim to improve their assistance for you and your furry companions. To achieve this, they launched the Global Pet Parent Study, which aims to gain insights into the variety of pets that people own. Remarkably, more than half of the survey respondents mentioned having a dog or cat. Furthermore, approximately 47% of these pet owners are first-timers in their pet-rearing journey.

The survey took on twenty countries and revealed data from over 200,000 pet owners. This information is tied to Mars’ desire to help end pet homelessness and give every pet a safe and loving home.

Regarding the United States, the data indicates that the five most popular dog breeds are Pitbulls, Labrador Retrievers, Chihuahuas, Golden Retrievers, and Bulldogs. Interestingly, it’s shown that the majority of people prefer to bring home puppies or kittens that are three months old or younger rather than older pets. This trend is observed in 66% of dog owners and 70% of cat owners.

As much joy I’ve experienced from welcoming young kittens and puppies into my home, I’d like to emphasize that senior pets deserve a loving home just as much. They might not be as energetic as their younger counterparts, but they can still bring an abundance of love and companionship into your life, making them equally wonderful additions to your family.

Cats and dogs often play crucial roles in our lives, becoming cherished family members. They could serve as someone’s dearest friend, the one they see as their child or a beloved companion who brightens their days. For kids, owning a pet might feel much like having another sibling.

For the first time, the company’s commitment to ensuring pets’ safety and making them feel at home has inspired the U.S. Mars Pet Adoption weekend to expand globally. Currently, a total of twelve countries are participating, including the United States, Japan, Mexico, The UK, India, Thailand, Malaysia, France, Canada, China, The Philippines, and Brazil.

During the Mars Pet Adoption Weekend, they will also contribute financially to adoption events, shelters, and other related initiatives aimed at facilitating the adoption of shelter animals into caring homes. This includes families eagerly anticipating their first playtime with a new loving pet, whether it’s a cat or dog.
