In Episode 7, events primarily centered on Mark’s return to normal life within Lumon and the harrowing predicament of Gemma. The swift, disorienting cuts in the episode intertwined Mark’s recollections of his “reintegration” with Gemma’s unconscious thoughts, creating a sense of simultaneous unfolding.

Through much of the episode, Mark remains unconscious. However, towards the end, he stirs and mutters the phrase, “Chikhai Bardo.” Although viewers are already familiar with this phrase due to its context within the episode, it’s significant because Gemma received similar cards from Lumon earlier. These cards might have represented the first indirect message from Lumon to Mark’s spouse.

As Mark regains consciousness and recalls the events, it’s probable that he will connect the dots about how Gemma came to be on Lumon’s floor.
