As a die-hard fan who’s been through firefighting dramas like they were actual emergencies, I can’t help but feel a mix of anticipation and trepidation for the upcoming season 5 of 911: Lone Star. After the grueling wait due to Hollywood strikes and logistics, it seems the series is finally gearing up to return with a bang – or rather, an explosion!
911: Lone Star has unveiled its initial trailer, showcasing a massive catastrophe that places one firefighter in peril. Here’s what we’ve learned so far!
911: Lone Star fans have had a long wait due to the 2023 Hollywood strikes, which caused a delay in the airing of season 5. The strikes ended in November, and FOX decided it was more suitable to postpone the broadcast of this procedural drama until the 2024-2025 TV season.
The main reason for this is that the production of the show requires a considerable amount of time to film its extensive action scenes with the cast, which is mainly due to logistics. Furthermore, the mothership series ‘911’ has shifted to ABC, causing concerns for ‘Lone Star’ as it loses a lead-in and may experience lower ratings without the more popular ‘911’ airing concurrently.
There’s been a lot of talk that season 5 might be the last for the show, given Sierra McClain’s departure from the series as Grace Ryder. This speculation is further supported by the trailers showing Jackson Pace stepping up as the main dispatcher for the team in season 5.
It appears that the actors involved have suggested that the series 911: Lone Star might also be coming to an end. Rob Lowe has been one of the more vocal in predicting this may be its last run. Given the budget issues, poor ratings, and the lengthy delay since the previous season, it seems plausible that this could be its final year on air.
The initial trailer suggests that the show is still capable of delivering thrilling, edge-of-your-seat moments for its enthusiasts.

911 enthusiasts are well aware that each season opener delivers a grand catastrophe. In the case of season 5, a train derailment unleashes what’s referred to as a “toxic bomb,” endangering Houston, and it falls upon the 126 team to prevent this disaster. This situation seems to place Marjan in peril as her assignment is hit by an explosion.
According to TVLine, additional plotlines for season 5 are being disclosed: Judd steps down from the 126, leading Paul and Marjan in a contest for lieutenant; Tommy faces challenges as he pursues a relationship with Trevor; T.K. receives an unexpected gift on his 30th birthday from someone linked to his past that could impact his bond with Carlos, who’s growing increasingly fixated on solving his father’s murder.
It hasn’t been decided yet how Grace will appear on the page, and we’re still unsure if this is going to be the last season for 911: Lone Star. If it does come to an end, then the series is making up for time missed with a thrilling premiere and intends to go out in a spectacular fashion.
911: Lone Star season 5 premieres Monday, September 23 at 8/7c on Fox.
