Mario + Rabbids director David Soliani leaves Ubisoft

As a longtime gamer and follower of the gaming industry, I can’t help but feel a sense of loss with David Soliani‘s departure from Ubisoft after 25 years of dedication to the company, eleven of which were spent on the beloved Mario + Rabbids franchise.

David Soliani, an accomplished veteran at Ubisoft with over 25 years of service and the director behind both “Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle” and “Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope,” has announced his departure from the company. Throughout his tenure, he dedicated eleven significant years to the development of the Mario + Rabbids series. Currently, Soliani has kept quiet about his future plans.

As a seasoned writer, I’ve come across numerous press releases and social media postsings announcing personnel changes in the video game industry. However, the recent announcement of David Soliani’s departure from Ubisoft struck a chord with me due to my personal connection to the Mario + Rabbids series.

Hello everyone,

In 2017, Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle hit the shelves, followed by Sparks of Hope in 2022. These games were met with great enthusiasm from players, offering an X-COM-inspired tactical experience combined with the charm of rabbid versions of Mario and Mushroom Kingdom characters. Our team was captivated by Sparks of Hope during our review, and post-release support came in the form of additional DLC packs for an extended gaming experience.

We’re disappointed that Soliani’s director skills won’t be showcased more at Ubisoft, but based on his work on Mario + Rabbids, we can’t wait to see what new project he takes on next. Keep an eye on Shacknews for the latest news.
