In simple terms, Nintendo has rolled out an update for Mario Kart World, and it fixes a common trick used by players regarding one of the game’s new online race features. Players discovered that they could skip “intermission tracks” during online races by choosing the Random track option. However, after the update version 1.1.2 of Mario Kart World, this workaround will no longer function.
Last night, Nintendo released the patch details for the latest Mario Kart World update (version 1.1.2). Here’s a rundown of the minor modifications included:

General
- Adjusted courses selected in “Random” when selecting next course in a wireless “VS Race.”
Fixed Issues
- Made readjustments to fix an issue where rate fluctuations were sometimes displayed incorrectly in “Online Play” and “Knockout Tour.”
- Fixed an issue where you sometimes can’t recover quickly after falling off the course in “Dino Dino Jungle”.
- Fixed an issue where you continually hit the wall near the finish line of “Boo Cinema” when transformed into Bullet Bill.
In Mario Kart World, the shift in how Random courses function online is a substantial alteration. Previously, when racing online, players would actually travel from one track to another during gameplay. These transition stages were part of the race and known as “intermission tracks.” On these intermission tracks, players wouldn’t reach the selected track until the last one or two laps of a race. Players soon figured out that by choosing “Random” at the voting screen, they could race every lap on the chosen track without an intermission section. However, the latest update does away with this loophole and now includes intermission tracks in Random selections.
