The debate about how movies depict violence and its impact on viewers is an age-old issue. Lately, it’s been a hot topic in Kerala due to the rise in violent incidents, particularly among the state’s young population.
Some notable figures advocated for an outright prohibition of violent scenes in movies, while others recognized the impact films have on their viewers and instead urged for a more thoughtful and age-appropriate depiction of such content.
Recently, Jagadeesh, a seasoned actor, expressed his views on a certain topic during a press conference prior to the premiere of his upcoming film titled Pariwar. During this discussion, he emphasized that despite portraying characters that promote violence in movies, he himself is against such actions in real life. He also raised an intriguing point: does the audience admire the character or the actor as a genuine human being?
As a devoted admirer, I recently brought up the case of Rajkumar Hirani’s Lage Raho Munna Bhai in conversation. I emphasized that this film embodies Gandhian principles, which is something worth pondering: how many individuals have truly adopted these positive teachings? It’s essential to recognize that an audience can be swayed not only by the negative aspects but also by the uplifting and constructive ones as well.
In the action-thriller movie “Marco,” released in December 2024, Jagadeesh played the role of Tony Isaac, a villainous character. This film, produced by Unni Mukundan, is reportedly one of the most brutal productions to emerge from the Malayalam film industry.
Jagadeesh emphasized that the character he portrays in Marco is one who favors violence, but as an individual, he personally does not endorse it. Additionally, he shared that when he visits any educational establishment as a guest speaker, he consistently advocates for love instead.
In simpler terms, he suggested that if people found it hard to believe what Jagadeesh, the person, was saying, yet they accepted the actions of Tony Isaac, the character, then this discrepancy should certainly be investigated further.
Marco, as previously stated, is a crime action drama movie scheduled for 2024, directed by Haneef Adeni. The movie features Unni Mukundan in the main role and Yukti Thareja, Siddique, and others in significant roles. Upon its release, the film received general acceptance, but some critics also pointed out that it excessively glorified violence.
At Jagadeesh’s professional sphere, you recently observed him acting in the crime thriller movie titled “Officer on Duty.” This production starred Kunchacko Boban and Priyamani as the main characters. The film was released in February and has received favorable feedback from both critics and viewers.
In the upcoming comedy movie titled “Pariwar,” the actor will appear alongside Indrans, Mottai Rajendran, among others, in significant roles. This production, directed by Ulsav Rajeev, is set to be released on our screens on the 7th of March.
