Marc Maron to Star in Terminal Cancer Comedy Movie In Memoriam

As a gamer with a knack for appreciating great performances and a deep-rooted love for dark comedies, I find myself utterly intrigued by the upcoming project In Memoriam starring Marc Maron. Having grown up watching him on Late Show with David Letterman and Late Night with Conan O’Brien, it’s fascinating to see him evolve into such a versatile artist over the years.


Comedian and actor Marc Maron is all set to take on a role in the upcoming comedy film titled “In Memoriam.” This heartfelt production about terminal cancer is being directed by esteemed Emmy winner, Rob Burnett, who has previously worked on “The Fundamentals of Caring.

Acclaimed Emmy winner Burnett, with a total of five victories and 27 nominations under his belt, is preparing to pen and helm the project at Invention Studios (Thelma). The film titled “In Memoriam” is slated to commence shooting on October 14 this year.

Apart from taking on the lead role, I’m thrilled to be a part of the team responsible for bringing this project to life. Alongside me, the legendary Mindy Kaling, Michael Burnett, Nicholas Weinstock and Divya D’Souza from Invention Studios, and David Martin from Avalon will all contribute to its production. It’s an honor to work with such a talented group!

The movie “In Memoriam” will focus on a renowned actor, played by Maron, who learns he has terminal cancer. This revelation drives him to become fixated on securing a place in the Academy Awards’ tribute called “In Memoriam,” which is designed to pay homage to those from the industry who have sadly passed away recently.

According to the movie’s synopsis, “the story revolves around an experienced Hollywood actor (Maron), who learns he has terminal cancer. In an attempt to be included in the Academy Awards’ ‘In Memoriam’ segment, he becomes fixated on this goal, leading us on a poignant journey exploring themes of ego, humility, and enduring legacy.

Marc Maron, a comedian who frequently graced Late Show with David Letterman and Late Night with Conan O’Brien during the 1990s and 2000s, is most recognized for his extensive weekly podcast, WTF with Marc Maron. This podcast, launched in 2009, now boasts over 1,500 episodes to date. The podcast has garnered accolades from the Academy of Podcasters, Ambies, and iHeartRadio Podcast Awards.
