Over the past weekend, I, along with fellow fans worldwide, uncovered an exciting revelation from Bungie: they were revisiting their Marathon content! The Bungie press site was adorned with fresh Marathon visuals, while a new we_are_mida social media account emerged, mysteriously sharing deeply cryptic images and messages.

Users swiftly uncovered a site containing a concealed picture, a link hinting at Twitch login details, symbols that needed decoding, a Traxus Global webpage showcasing what seems like a celestial system, and other intriguing elements. There’s an abundance of content here. So much, in fact, that MrRoflWaffles produced a 31-minute video detailing a significant portion of the community’s efforts to decipher the mysteries. Essentially, users were discovering hexadecimal codes by tuning into audio tracks secretly embedded within the site. Indeed, Bungie excels at these Alternate Reality Game puzzles.

Today, users successfully found the right codes to secure the Traxus Global planetary system. This led to the release of a brief save-the-date video for the Marathon event, as shown earlier. Bungie will unveil genuine Marathon gameplay on April 12, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. Pacific Time / 1:00 p.m. Eastern Time (3:00 a.m. AEST for our friends Down Under).

The excitement continues! At this moment, MrRofleWaffles is still streaming on Twitch (and it’s been 34 hours so far), working diligently to construct what seems like the face of a character from the Marathon game series.

We haven’t received any official updates about Marathon since October 2024, when game director Joe Ziegler announced that playtests would begin this year.
