As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of gaming under my belt, I can’t help but feel a sense of nostalgic excitement when it comes to Bungie’s Marathon revival. Having grown up playing the original games, the thought of stepping back into the world of Pfhor and Duronis VI fills me with a warm, fuzzy feeling in my gaming heart.
For some time now, Bungie has been fairly quiet regarding their forthcoming Marathon remake, which was initially announced more than a year ago. Despite this silence, we’ve yet to uncover many details about the upcoming extraction shooter. However, Bungie recently released a video update to discuss the game’s progress and future development milestones.
In a nearly 10-minute video discussion, Joe Ziegler, the game director for Marathon, shared updates about the current status of the game. While the video didn’t provide specifics like gameplay footage or a definite release date, it did offer some intriguing insights. Notably, Ziegler revealed that Bungie aims to broaden the Marathon playtest to include more participants in the year 2025.
Hello there! We’ve put together a brief video featuring a conversation about our ongoing projects within the Marathon team, and what we’ve been working on in secret these past days. This isn’t a gameplay unveiling or anything of that sort, but if you’re curious to catch up on the latest news, feel free to watch it below!

Additionally, Ziegler unveiled two fresh concept illustrations. One features a playable character, referred to as Runners and secretly named Thief. He hinted that the character’s code name offers a clue about her in-game functionality. The other artwork represents another runner, codenamed Stealth, whose image is partially obscured by smoke.
To wrap things up, the official store pages for Marathon have been launched, including one on Steam. At present, there’s no fresh information available on these pages. However, you can add Marathon to your wishlist so that you don’t miss it amidst the upcoming barrage of video game releases.
