Mammootty remembers filmmaker MT Vasudevan Nair, drops emotional post on latter’s posthumous Padma Vibhushan win

Actor Mammootty collaborated with the acclaimed filmmaker and author, the late MT Vasudevan Nair, in several movies. Over time, they developed a friendly relationship that continued until the well-known novelist passed away on December 26, 2024.

Now that it’s been announced that the late director will receive the Padma Vibhushan award, Mammootty shared a heartfelt tribute remembering this multitalented legend.

Following the sad news of the filmmaker’s death at 91 years old, Mammootty wrote a heartfelt tribute in memory of him, sharing a touching story as a way to honor his legacy.

He penned, “I’ve discovered a spot within that heart; it’s the most significant fortune I’ve garnered in my film career. I’ve breathed life into numerous characters, imbuing them with a piece of his spirit. Strangely, none of these roles are vivid to me now. A chapter is drawing to a close. My mind seems devoid of thoughts. I extend both my hands.

Mammootty has been part of numerous films penned by Nair, such as Utharam, Kerala Varma Pazhassi Raja, Adiyozhukkukal, Vilkkanundu Swapnangal, Aalkkoottathil Thaniye among others.

Or, more concisely: Mammootty has appeared in many movies written by Nair including Utharam, Kerala Varma Pazhassi Raja, Adiyozhukkukal, Vilkkanundu Swapnangal and Aalkkoottathil Thaniye along with others.

In the realm of both movies and Malayalam literature, I find myself utterly captivated by the elusive figure that is MT Vasudevan Nair. His works have carved out a unique and irreplaceable niche in my heart, a space that continues to echo with the profound impact of his contributions.

Simultaneously, it’s worth noting that some notable Southern actors have received esteemed civilian honors as well. Ajith Kumar, Shobana, and Nandamuri Balakrishna are among the recipients of the Padma Bhushan award.
