As a fan who grew up with the chaos of the middle child, I can’t contain my excitement! After all these years, Malcolm, Hal, Lois, and the whole gang are coming back for a reboot on Disney+. It’s like finding that long-lost family photo album you thought was lost forever.
Indeed, it seems that life might not always be as unjust as we perceive it. In a surprising turn of events, Disney+ has officially commissioned a comeback for the beloved series “Malcolm in the Middle“. Some cherished cast members are expected to reprise their roles.
As an enthusiastic viewer, I’m thrilled to share that the titan of streaming platforms is working on a compact four-episode comeback for Malcolm in the Middle! This exciting project is being spearheaded by the original series creator, Linwood Boomer. It’s being produced by 20th Television and New Regency, which means we’re in for a treat!
Who’s returning for the Malcolm in the Middle reboot?
The stars of the original show – Frankie Muniz (known for Agent Cody Banks), Jane Kaczmarek (from The Heavenly Kid), and Bryan Cranston (famous as Breaking Bad’s character) – are coming back to re-embody their characters, as reported by Variety. In this series, Muniz took on the role of the main character, while Kaczmarek and Cranston portrayed Lois and Hal respectively.

In the upcoming revival, Malcolm will be joining his loved ones again to celebrate Hal and Lois’ 40th wedding anniversary. To put it simply, the plot summary goes like this: “Malcolm (Muniz) and his daughter are pulled back into the whirlwind of family events when Hal (Cranston) and Lois (Kaczmarek) ask him to attend their 40th wedding anniversary party.
In the new version, Boomer takes on both the role of scriptwriter and executive producer for the series comeback. On the other hand, Cranston steps up as one of the executive producers. Meanwhile, Ken Kwapis has been appointed to direct all four episodes and will also serve as an executive producer.
Over the course of six exciting years, from 2000 to 2006, I was glued to my TV screen for this amazing sitcom that aired on Fox. Across seven unforgettable seasons, I watched a grand total of 151 episodes unfold. This beloved show featured an outstanding cast including Christopher Kennedy Masterson, Erik Per Sullivan, the Masterson twins, and Justin Berfield, who brought the characters to life in such a captivating way.
Ayo Davis, president of Disney Branded Television, expressed her enthusiasm about bringing back the original cast of ‘Malcolm in the Middle’, a groundbreaking sitcom known for its authentic portrayal of family life using humor, emotion, and relatability. The show, which depicted a charmingly disorganized family, struck a chord with viewers of all ages due to its amusing and heartfelt presentation. We can’t wait to see the magic they created return!
No premiere date has been set yet for the Malcolm in the Middle reboot.
