As a seasoned observer of the entertainment industry and a firm believer in justice for all, I find myself deeply troubled by the ongoing saga surrounding Malayalam actor Siddique. The allegations against him are grave and, if true, unforgivable.
For two more weeks, interim anticipatory bail given to Malayalam actor Siddique in a rape case has been extended by the Supreme Court. This decision was made on October 22, following accusations made by a young actress against him. According to Live Law’s report, the court postponed the hearing after an attorney representing Siddique asked for more time to respond to the status report submitted by the Kerala Police.
Previously, the Kerala Police showed resistance towards the actor’s plea. Additionally, it was noted that Siddique attended an interview with the investigative officer in accordance with the Court’s temporary ruling.
According to the report, the attorney for Kerala’s state contended that Mr. Siddique failed to collaborate during the investigation and potentially manipulated the evidence.
When the court pointed out that the complainant had submitted the case many years after the supposed event, the legal representative for the state explained the situation by citing the Justice Hema Committee’s report detailing the hardships encountered by women in the Mollywood film industry.
He pointed out that the victim gained enough bravery to make her accusations public following the release of the report, asking the court to take this background into account while assessing the delay in submitting the First Information Report (FIR).
He argued that Siddique had not just destroyed his electronic devices, but he also deactivated his social media accounts to obstruct the investigation.
Additionally, Kumar pointed out that numerous First Information Reports (FIRs) have been lodged by various other women, as they were disheartened by the safeguarding afforded to Siddique.
In my role as a lifestyle advisor, I’d like to shed light on a recent development within the realm of Malayalam cinema. Following the publication of the Justice Hema Committee report, which highlighted the issue of women’s exploitation, an actress bravely stepped forward to accuse director Siddique of inappropriate behavior towards her back in 2016. This allegation was made during a private meeting that took place within the confines of a hotel room.
Additionally, the High Court clarified that the accusations directed towards Siddique align with the expanded understanding of what constitutes “rape”.
