As a devoted fan of Malayalam cinema, I have been following the shocking developments surrounding the resignation of Siddique from his position as general secretary of AMMA. Being a long-time admirer of his work, it is disheartening to see such allegations against him. However, as a believer in justice and women’s rights, I firmly stand with the victims who have come forward with their harrowing experiences.
Notable Malayalam actor Siddique stepped down from his role as head of the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) following accusations of sexual misconduct made by a young actress. According to Onmanorama’s report, he submitted his resignation to AMMA president Mohanlal. Siddique confirmed that he is stepping down due to the serious allegations of sexual assault against him.
During an interview with a television station, Siddique announced that he has submitted his formal resignation to the organization’s president, Mohanlal. Due to accusations against him, he has chosen to step down from his position and has resigned accordingly.
For those unfamiliar, actress Revathy Sampath recently made severe accusations against Siddique, alleging that he sexually assaulted her several years ago. Revathy stated that she isn’t alone in experiencing such abuse; many of her friends have also faced similar instances with him in the past.
According to Onmanorama, Siddique initially reached out to me via social media. After the release of the film ‘Sukhamayirikkatte’, he invited me to his hotel room for promotional purposes. At that time, I was only 21 years old. Unfortunately, he sexually assaulted me and locked the door. Fortunately, I found a way to flee from the situation.
In 2019, I bravely shared my personal struggle, and now, once more finding the strength, I am speaking out publicly about this important matter.
She too remembered the time when Siddique informed her of his significant power, implying she had no means to resist him. Notably, an event involving Revathy occurred as far back as 2016.
As a devoted admirer, I’d like to bring to light a past event concerning Malayalam director Ranjith. It transpired that in approximately 2009-2010, during the filming of Paleri Manikyam, actress Sreelekha Mitra alleged that she had been subjected to misconduct by none other than this esteemed figure. The incident, unfortunately, involved an assault on her part.
Nevertheless, Ranjith refuted those accusations and staunchly defended himself. In conversations with local press outlets, he explained that the actress was well-suited for the role initially, but she was later replaced from the movie due to unspecified reasons. He maintained there was no wrongdoing on his part.
