Malayalam actor Siddique files police complaint against junior artist Revathy Sampath for accusing him of sexual assault

As a lifestyle expert with extensive experience in navigating the often tumultuous world of the entertainment industry, I find myself deeply troubled by the escalating allegations and counter-allegations between Siddique and Revathy Sampath. The power dynamics inherent in any industry can be complex, but they are especially pronounced in the film world where aspirants often look up to established figures for guidance and opportunities.

Actress Revathy Sampath accused Actor Siddique of sexual assault. After these accusations, he stepped down from his position as the head of the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA). Later, Siddique filed a police report against Revathy for making such severe allegations against him.

As reported by Onmanorama, he contested the sexual assault accusations and submitted a complaint to the Director General of Police (DGP). He suggested that there might be some hidden motive behind these accusations against him. The actor chose to file his police complaint via email, dismissing the sexual assault allegations by stating that he was with the actress when her parents were present.

According to Siddique’s police statement, Revathy Sampath first claimed in 2019 that he had used inappropriate language towards her. However, later on, she asserted that he had sexually assaulted her. He explained in his complaint that her accusations against him shifted when the Hema Committee report was released.

Siddique also argued that this must be a publicity stunt by the actress.

While Revathy has made severe accusations against a Malayalam actor, she stated that several of her friends had experienced abuse at his hands in the past. As reported by Onmanorama, she shared her own story, saying, “Siddique initially reached out to me via social media. After the promotions for ‘Sukhamayirikkatte’, he asked me to visit his hotel room. At that time, I was 21 years old. He sexually assaulted me and also locked me in the room. Fortunately, I was able to leave.”

In the year 2016, I too learned that Siddique had confided in me his claims of possessing significant power. He asserted that any actions I might take against him would prove futile. This revelation was made to me at a time that now seems far off in the past.

Discussions about sexual harassment in the Malayalam film industry have been rekindled following the publication of the Hema Committee’s report. Numerous women have spoken out against notable individuals like Ranjith, Shine Tom Chacko, and others who are well-known figures in Mollywood.
