Maggie Siff hails from The Bronx, New York, USA, born on the 21st of June, 1974. She is an American citizen, boasting a rich cultural heritage as her father’s side is Ashkenazi while her mother’s ancestry is a mix of Irish and Swedish lineage.

Although the people who are her parents have yet to be identified, Siff does have a sibling. Since childhood, Siff has been enthralled by the world of acting.

Maggie Siff graduated from The Bronx High School of Science and Bryn Mawr College with an English degree in 1996. Later, she pursued a Master of Fine Arts in acting at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts.

Following her academic pursuits, Siff gained short-term experience working at a hedge fund. This stint significantly influenced the portrayal of her character in the series Billions.

Maggie Siff’s Career

Prior to making her TV debut, Siff had ample theater experience at the local level. In 1998, her portrayal in Henrik Ibsen’s Ghosts at Lantern Theater Company earned her a Barrymore Award, honoring outstanding achievement in theater.

Born to a father who was an Ashkenazi Jewish stage performer, Siff often finds herself deeply tied to the cultural aspects of Judaism due to her upbringing.

Back in 2004, I stepped into the spotlight on TV series for the very first time. One of my earliest roles was that of an Alcoholics Anonymous speaker in Season 2 of Rescue Me. Furthermore, I was fortunate enough to secure parts on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Grey’s Anatomy, and yet another Law & Order production.

Between 2007 and 2008, she played Rachel Menken Katz on the television series Mad Men, earning her and her fellow cast members a nomination for a Screen Actors Guild Award in the category of outstanding performance by an ensemble in a drama series, recognizing their exceptional teamwork.

For a brief while during that timeframe, she took on a secondary part as a character who suffered burns in Nip/Tuck. Later in 2008, she was cast as Dr. Tara Knowles in Sons of Anarchy.

She has appeared in films such as Then She Found Me (2007) as Lily, Push (2008) as Teresa Stowe/Stitch assisting Nick (Chris Evans), Funny People (2009) as Rachel, Leaves of Grass (2010) as Rabbi Renannah Zimmerman, and Concussion (2013) as Sam Bennet.

She appeared on the 2016 Showtime series Billions and has also starred as the main character in the independent movies “A Woman, A Part” from 2016 and “One Percent More Humid” released in 2017.

In 2017, I had the privilege of lending my voice to the audiobook version of Gwendy’s Button Box, a captivating tale penned by the masterful duo, Stephen King and Richard Chizmar. Since then, in the digital realm of 2018 and beyond, I’ve been honored to serve as the on-screen spokesperson for Betterment, a forward-thinking investment company that empowers people like you and me to take charge of our financial futures.

Last year, Siff lent her voice to play the central character in “Polly Platt: The Invisible Woman” across the whole season of Karina Longworth’s movie history podcast, You Must Remember This (in 2020).

Personal Life

In October 2013, Maggie Siff announced that she and her husband Paul Ratliff, whom they married in 2012, were going to have their first child. Their daughter, Lucy, arrived not long afterward. Tragically, Siff’s spouse lost his life in 2021 following a struggle with brain cancer.
