Madharasi: AR Murugadoss compares Sivakarthikeyan starrer with Thuppakki and Ghajini; ‘This one too will have…’

Sivakarthikeyan garnered much interest with the initial sneak peek of his upcoming film, Madharasi, helmed by AR Murugadoss. The short clip quickly spread like wildfire, but it was Sivakarthikeyan’s raw, action-packed appearance that left his followers speechless in amazement. More recently, the director shared some intriguing stories behind SK’s character and the movie itself.

After revealing a sneak peek of the movie titled “Madharasi,” director AR Murugadoss emphasized to TOI that Sivakarthikeyan’s upcoming film will offer a distinctly unique experience unlike any other.

In simpler terms, he pointed out that the narrative commences in Northern India, which is why the movie’s name was chosen as Madhurasi. This is because people from the northern regions commonly call those from Southern India ‘Madrasis’.

He explained that the story begins through the perspective of characters residing in Northern India. The term “Madharasi,” often used by North Indians to describe someone from the South, was employed by the director for the title. Although this term is seldom used nowadays, given the movie’s exploration of North Indians’ perceptions towards Southerners, he deemed it fitting.

Subsequently, the director disclosed the specific style of appearance SK will sport for the project. Murugadoss emphasized that Sivakarthikeyan has previous experience in action films, but with Madharasi, it will be elevated to a greater extent.

Simultaneously, the director shared that the actor’s character, portraying an unkempt individual, was styled in a rough manner because he doesn’t pay much attention to his personal grooming or appearance.

As AR Murugadoss neared the conclusion of his remarks, he highlighted the distinctive traits he’d crafted for the protagonist in Ghajini (short-term memory loss) and Thuppakki (sleeper cell); in Madharasi, viewers can anticipate similar unique characteristics for SK’s character.

In his own terms, “Similar to the memory-related plot twist in Ghajini and the sleeper cells in Thuppaki, Sivakarthikeyan’s character in our upcoming project will also have a distinctive trait. At this stage, I prefer not to disclose it. All I can hint at is that his portrayal will be quite unconventional.
