Following the initial announcement of his tour and preliminary launch of his new album in April, Mac DeMarco has now disclosed definite details about his upcoming project. This includes a confirmed release date in late August. Titled “Guitar“, Mac’s latest studio creation consists of 13 solo tracks, with “Home” being the lead single that was released today.
According to a press release, DeMarco expressed that the album represents a personal and artistic truth that resonates strongly with him.
He expressed that the guitar serves as an accurate reflection of his current life stage, as best as he could commit to pen. He’s delighted to disseminate this music and eagerly anticipates performing these tunes in as numerous locations as he can access.
The playlist consists of 13 tracks, completely produced and mixed by DeMarco personally. For mastering, David Ives was brought on board. DeMarco mixed the entire album within Canada, and he also took care of all the visual aspects, using a tripod for this purpose.
Regarding the seventh track on the album, titled “Home,” the artist maintains a straightforward approach, referring to it as “a composition I penned at my residence in Los Angeles, expressing my personal interpretation of ‘home’.” Here is the complete tracklist for your reference:
