M3GAN 2.0 NYCC Video Sees the Return of Allison Williams & Violet McGraw’s Killer Doll

As a horror enthusiast with a soft spot for AI-gone-wrong narratives, I am absolutely thrilled about the impending release of M3GAN 2.0! Having grown up watching child-friendly robots turn into terrifying nightmares (I’m looking at you, Chucky), this sequel feels like a delightful reunion with an old friend who decided to get a bit more homicidal.

A video highlighting M3GAN 2.0 was shown at New York Comic Con (NYCC).

The next installment in the horror series from Blumhouse Productions, titled M3GAN 2.0, is slated for release in U.S. theaters next year. This sequel to the 2022 movie, M3GAN, is helmed by director Gerard Johnstone.

During Blumhouse’s BlumFest NYCC panel, attendees were treated to a video featuring M3GAN. In this video, M3GAN addressed the audience by saying, “Greetings, New York Comic Con. Do you miss me? I’m sorry I couldn’t be present as I’m busy working hard on set for my upcoming movie, M3GAN 2.0. I have been upgraded. We’ll meet again in June.

What do we know about M3GAN 2.0?

In the upcoming sequel to M3GAN, Allison Williams will return to portray Gemma, and Violet McGraw will take on the character of Cady again. Joining them in repeating their roles from the original film are Jenna Davis, lending her voice to M3GAN, Brian Jordan Alvarez as Cole, and Jen Van Epps as Tess. Additionally, Ivanna Sakhno, Timm Sharp, Aristotle Athari, and Jemaine Clement are all part of the main cast for this new installment.

In addition to M3GAN, Johnstone was the one behind the director’s chair. The screenplay was penned by Akela Cooper, who had previously worked on the original film. James Wan, Jason Blum, and Williams took on the producer roles, while Johnstone, Mark Katchur, Michael Clear, Judson Scott, Ryan Turek, Adam Hendricks, and Greg Gilreath served as executive producers.

The sequel to M3GAN, titled M3GAN 2.0, is set to hit theaters across the U.S. on June 27, 2025, distributed by Universal Pictures. Initially slated for release in January 2025, the launch date has been revised twice – first to May and then to June.

In a March 2023 interview with ComingSoon, McGraw expressed his delight over the public’s reaction towards M3GAN and the upcoming sequel: “I’m thrilled to see people enjoying it! It’s amusing to me that some folks adore Cady as much as I do. Hearing people call her their favorite character makes me incredibly grateful to be a part of such an extraordinary, iconic film. I was taken aback by how quickly M3GAN 2.0 is coming into production. My initial thought was, ‘Already? Okay,’ but I’m genuinely excited to collaborate with the entire team again. I’m just so happy that people loved the movie so much.

M3GAN, meanwhile, is currently streaming on Starz.
