UPDATE NOV. 13, 2024: According to a new report by The Hollywood Reporter, contrary to an earlier statement from Deadline, Lupita Nyong’o is, in fact, part of Christopher Nolan’s upcoming film cast, portraying an as-yet-unspecified character.

Original article: Anne Hathaway and Zendaya have joined the cast of Christopher Nolan’s next movie.

Following the success of the Academy Award-winning “Oppenheimer,” Christopher Nolan has moved onto directing his next project for Universal Pictures. As of now, specifics about the movie’s storyline are kept confidential; however, it is known that Tom Holland and Matt Damon have been enlisted to star in the film.

Per Deadline, two more stars have also joined the cast of the movie: Anne Hathaway and Zendaya.

Anne Hathaway has previously collaborated with Christopher Nolan. Her first role for him was as Selina Kyle/Catwoman in The Dark Knight Rises (2012), followed by Dr. Amelia Brand in Interstellar (2014). Apart from working with Nolan, Hathaway’s acting credits include The Princess Diaries (2001), Ella Enchanted (2004), The Devil Wears Prada (2006), Les Misérables (2012), Ocean’s 8 (2018), and The Idea of You (2024), along with several other films.

For the first time ever, Zendaya and Nolan will be collaborating on a project. Zendaya has made a name for herself playing MJ in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Spider-Man trilogy, as well as Chani in the Dune films. Her acting credits also extend to 2017’s The Greatest Showman, 2021’s Malcolm & Marie, and a future film titled Challengers, set for release in 2024.

There are unconfirmed reports circulating on the internet that Lupita Nyong’o may be in the film, but at this point, it hasn’t been confirmed as official news. The social media posts pointing towards her involvement link back to an article on Deadline, which doesn’t mention Nyong’o. So far, no corrections or updates have been made to the story.

What else do we know about Christopher Nolan’s new movie?

There’s no word yet from Nolan regarding the subject of his upcoming film, but a popular speculation points towards a storyline featuring a pair of helicopter-flying police officers, with one being more seasoned and the other relatively new.

It was also recently announced that Nolan’s movie will utilize a never-before-used IMAX technology.

In US cinemas on July 17, 2026, Nolan’s upcoming, yet-to-be-named film is set to premiere, distributed by Universal Pictures.
