Lucy Lawless joins Outlander vet and more in Spartacus: House of Ashur

As a seasoned gamer of historical dramas and epic storylines, I must admit, my heart skipped a beat when I heard Lucy Lawless is returning to the world of Spartacus! After bidding farewell to Lucretia in Blood and Sand, her reprisal of this iconic character in House of Ashur feels like a long-awaited homecoming.

Known primarily for her role as Xena in “Xena: Warrior Princess,” Lucy Lawless is equally recognized for her work in another popular historical drama series. She portrayed Lucretia across multiple “Spartacus” productions. Currently, she’s revisiting that world once more.

Starz plans to introduce a new show within the series, delving into a hypothetical scenario. Imagine Ashur didn’t perish at the end of “Spartacus: Vengeance,” but rather received Bariatus’s Ludus as a reward for his role in ending the slave uprising. This potential tale explores that very question.

As a die-hard fan, I can’t help but express my excitement over the latest Starz series! The plot development calls for some beloved characters to make a comeback, which, of course, I wholeheartedly welcome.

Lucy Lawless will return in Spartacus: House of Ashur

In the TV show “Spartacus: Blood and Sand,” Lawless portrayed the character of Lucretia. Later, she repeated this role in the prequel series titled “Gods of the Arena.” Now, once more, she’s returning to the part. It’s worth mentioning that John Hannah played the husband of Lucretia, a man named Batiatus.

It seems that Lucretia might be the character who hands over the responsibility next. Given that her role is limited as a guest star in the series, it’s possible that she will make an appearance only for the first episode to establish this new reality, as indicated by Deadline.

Outlander vet and more part of new Spartacus series

Together with Lawless, several other actors are featured in the series, as stated in another article from Deadline. One of these actors is Graham McTavish, known for his role in Outlander, who will portray Korris – a former gladiator who earned his freedom in the arena. Now, he serves as Ashur’s Doctore, training other gladiators.

There’s speculation about which original characters might make an appearance. However, it seems that most of them won’t return, but there might be one or two who show up in the first episode to team up with Lawless. This mini-series appears to feature a new cast, offering a fresh take on the story. It presents an exciting opportunity for a unique spin in the franchise, similar to a Sliding Doors scenario.
