Lucky Cast: Outer Banks’ Drew Starkey Joins Apple TV+’s Limited Series

Actor Drew Starkey, famous for his role as Rafe Cameron in the Netflix hit “Outer Banks,” has signed up to appear in Apple TV+’s limited series titled “Lucky.” The series is based on Marissa Stapley’s bestselling novel of the same name and was created by Jonathan Tropper (of “Banshee” and “Warrior” fame). Reese Witherspoon takes on an executive producer role for the show.

Drew Starkey joins Timothy Olyphant in Apple TV+’s Lucky series cast

The limited drama series Lucky on Apple TV+ has brought in Drew Starkey to join an already strong cast that includes Anya Taylor-Joy, Annette Bening, Timothy Olyphant, and Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor. In the show, Starkey will play Cary, who is married to Taylor-Joy’s main character. Alongside Taylor-Joy, co-showrunners Tropper and Cassie Pappas (from Silo) will also serve as executive producers, as reported by Deadline.

The story centers on a former criminal, Taylor-Joy, who has left that lifestyle behind. However, she is compelled to confront ghosts from her past once more in a climactic conclusion.

In 2024, Apple TV+ and Hello Sunshine, led by Reese Witherspoon, have teamed up again, this time on a new project titled “Lucky.” This partnership follows their previous collaborations on shows like The Morning Show and Surface. Witherspoon expressed her enthusiasm for the collaboration with Apple TV+, Anya Taylor-Joy, creator Jonathan Tropper, and co-showrunner Cassie Pappas, stating, “We are thrilled to team up with Apple TV+ and the exceptional talents of Anya Taylor-Joy, as well as our talented creator Jonathan Tropper and his outstanding co-showrunner Cassie Pappas, to bring this captivating series, adapted from Marissa Stapley’s exceptional novel, to viewers worldwide.” (This statement was made via Apple TV+ Press.)

Beyond Outer Banks and Queer, the talented actor Starkey has also been featured in Love, Simon; The Hate U Give; The Devil All the Time; Scream: Resurrection; and The Terminal List. At 31 years old, he garnered significant critical praise for his portrayal in Luca Guadagnino’s Queer. In the upcoming series Lucky, Starkey plays Cary, a key character who is expected to make frequent appearances.
