Love Lessons will have you ready for back-to-school.
If you’ve enjoyed the TV show “Abbott Elementary”, then “Love Lessons” could be your next must-see, as it shares many similarities. The plot revolves around Valerie Marquez, a kindergarten teacher, and her unique approach to teaching. In this story, we also meet Andrew Wexler, another kindergarten teacher who is known for his strict demeanor and adherence to rules.
Right from the beginning, there was friction between these two individuals, which escalated to such an extent that it nearly led to them being dismissed due to their constant bickering. Fortunately, they managed to conceal their conflicts until the academic year concluded, at which point they parted ways. However, appearances can be deceiving because before leaving for summer vacation, these two found themselves in a romantic relationship.
As a passionate reader who has lost myself in countless romance novels, I must say that Sidney Halston’s latest work left quite an impression on me. The story of Valerie and her unexpected hook-up leading to pregnancy and their subsequent forced co-teaching arrangement due to a fire was both captivating and intriguing.
Although Andrew and Valerie’s connection developed gradually, it was evident that they both harbored unspoken feelings for each other without fully acknowledging it. There’s a certain charm in that situation. It was also entertaining to observe how people around them reacted, as their friends and family showed such intense reactions. I found the KFC scene particularly relatable.
Despite the third act’s tension arriving slightly too late, it aligned with their circumstances logically. It slightly affected my enjoyment, but overall, it was enjoyable. If you’re hankering for more of Abbott Elementary, then I’d highly recommend checking out Love Lessons.
Love Lessons by Sidney Halston is out now where books are sold.
