As a seasoned gamer and avid consumer of all things paranormal and unexplained, I must say that “Love and Other Conspiracies” by Mallory Marlowe has truly hit the mark for me. Having grown up binge-watching Buzzfeed Unsolved and spending countless hours poring over conspiracy theories on the dark corners of the internet, this book felt like a breath of fresh air.

Occasionally, the internet spawns fantastic creations, such as Buzzfeed Unsolved. If you’re a fan of that show, then I recommend giving Love and Other Conspiracies a try – it was specifically designed with people like you in mind!

I’ve just devoured “Love and Other Conspiracies” by Mallory Marlowe – the newest addition from Berkley! This captivating read, released at the tail-end of August, is an absolute gem that hits the bullseye for me. It’s perfect for summer reading but equally enthralling to pick up during the fall season as well!

If you share similar tastes with me, the captivating cover likely piqued your curiosity and prompted you to grab it. In contrast, since I went into this blind, you’re doing a more thorough investigation than I did. However, this book turned out to be so entertaining that I couldn’t help but finish it in one sitting.

Love and Other Conspiracies is an out-of-this-world debut.

The story revolves around our protagonist, Hallie, who works at a company similar to Buzzfeed called Skroll. Unfortunately, she’s hit a rough patch – not only has she been taken off one of the brand’s popular shows, but her relationship with Cade, Skroll’s heartthrob, has also ended.

In a situation where it appears she’s about to lose her job, Hallie stumbles upon Hayden. He runs a podcast centered around conspiracies, cryptids, and subjects that Hallie finds hard to accept. Surprisingly, they meet up and Hallie manages to persuade him to ink a deal with Skroll for his own web series. However, Hayden struggles to adapt, so Hallie steps in and eventually both of them start co-hosting the show together.

Having spent countless hours binge-watching Buzzfeed Unsolved, I can confidently say that this book has successfully captured the essence of their dynamic duo, Hayden and Hallie. As a longtime fan, I’ve come to appreciate their on-screen chemistry, which is skillfully replicated in these pages. From the very first chapter, it’s evident that the authors have an intimate understanding of the characters and their unique bond.

As a gaming enthusiast diving into this tale, it may not perfectly align with my mental picture, but it delivers on the aspects that make a romance novel irresistible for me. It’s got the audience rooting for their romantic pairing and gradually unveiling their love story, making the narrative more authentic and engaging. To top it off, there were thrilling investigations and discussions about intriguing topics such as Bigfoot, the JFK assassination, Mothman, and even the mysterious Area 51 – adding an exciting layer of mystery to the romance plotline.

In addition, this story features familiar romantic tropes that we’re fond of, such as sharing just one bed during their travels together. Regardless if you haven’t watched a single episode of Buzzfeed Unsolved, you’ll enjoy the charming romance and the outrageous, yet delightful adventures they embark on in Love and Other Conspiracies.
