As a seasoned gamer with a soft spot for anime and a penchant for storytelling that resonates with my own creative journey, I find myself utterly captivated by the latest trailer for Look Back. With a background steeped in competitive gaming and a deep appreciation for the art of manga, this film seems to tap right into my core.
GKIDS has unveiled a fresh trailer for the American premiere of the heartfelt anime drama titled “Look Back“. This movie is an adaptation from a single-episode web manga, penned and sketched by Tatsuki Fujimoto, who is famously known as the creator of Chainsaw Man.

The video showcases a close bond between two young and ambitious manga creators, who motivate each other to improve their skills. Together, they’ve developed their own manga, with dreams of having it serialized someday. Their work will debut in American theaters on October 4, following its Japanese premiere in June.
In the synopsis, it’s stated that Fujino, a well-liked and humorous student, is admired by her peers for her amusing comic strips in the school newspaper. One day, her teacher proposes they share space with Kyomoto, an absentee artist who creates stunning artwork, causing a competitive spirit within Fujino. Initially driven by jealousy, Fujino discovers a mutual love for drawing with Kyomoto. The movie portrays the ups and downs of chasing artistic greatness and the unique connections built through joint creative endeavors.
As a gamer, I can tell you that “Look Back” was my first venture into feature-length directing, having previously worked alongside the legendary Hayao Miyazaki on his latest project, “The Boy and the Heron.” This cinematic masterpiece hails from the creative minds at Studio Durian. Prior to this, I had the privilege of being a key animator in his team.
