As a long-time League of Legends player with over a decade of experience under my belt, I’m always excited for new patches and updates to the game. This time around, Riot is making some interesting changes that I believe will have both positive and negative impacts on the community.
In the latest LoL update, Version 14.14, League of Legends is introducing an exciting novelty: the long-awaited arrival of Aurora as a new playable champion, along with Riot Games’ development of a fresh PvE (Player vs Environment) mode named Swarm, accessible during the Anima Squad event in 2024.
Certainly, there are various adjustments to the equilibrium of Summoner’s Rift in the pipeline for League of Legends Patch 14.14. Let’s review all the latest info.
LoL Patch 14.14: New Champion Aurora Released
As an avid fan, I’m thrilled to share that Riot has some exciting news in store for us! Not only are they introducing a new Player versus Environment (PvE) mode, but we’ll also be getting our hands on a fresh mid-lane champion. This newcomer goes by the name of Aurora, hailing from the frosty lands of Freljord. With a rich history spanning over seven years of development, I can’t help but wonder what unique abilities and traits this Vastaya champion will bring to the table!
Aurora’s Abilities
Passive – Spirit Abjuration
- If Aurora damages an enemy 3 times with her spells and attacks, she will deal magic damage, exorcise a spirit from the enemy, and enter Spirit Mode for a few seconds.
- Aurora gains movement speed while in Spirit Mode.
- Spirits following Aurora grant her additional movement speed and heal her over the duration.
Q – Twofold Hex
As a seasoned League of Legends player, I’ve come to appreciate the intricacies of champion abilities that set them apart from one another. And let me tell you, Aurora Synn’s Q skill is nothing short of fascinating!
- Cast: Fire a blast of cursed energy in a direction, dealing magic damage to enemies hit and marking them with spirit energy.
- Recast: End the curse, drawing back the spirit energy to herself, dealing magic damage to enemies passed through. Damage is increased by missing HP.
W – Across the Veil
- Hop in a direction. Upon landing, enter the spirit realm, briefly becoming Invisible and entering Spirit Mode for several seconds.
- Takedowns on enemy champions reset the cooldown of this ability.
Her primary tactic is this: it invites players to think on their feet and evade adversaries, paving the way for substantial damage. This maneuver is particularly useful when aiming for the ideal position to activate her Q2 ability’s pull-back effect.
E – The Weirding
- Cast: Send out a blast of spirit magic, dealing magic damage in an area and slowing them.
- Aurora will hop backwards slightly on cast.
R – Between Worlds
- Cast: Hop forward and, upon landing, send out a pulse of spirit energy that deals magic damage and slows enemies.
- Aurora leaps in a direction of her choosing, releasing a shockwave that damages and slows any enemies it hits. Afterward, she creates an area that traps enemies within it and allows Aurora to teleport from one side of the area to the other.
- Recast: Dismiss the zone early

System Changes In LoL Patch 14.14
As a dedicated gamer of League of Legends, I can tell you that this patch brings fewer adjustments to the game system. Riot Games has decided to tone down both Absorb Life rune and Warmog’s item due to their overperformance. Early in the game, Absorb Life has proven too powerful, so Riot is transferring some of its strength from the early stages to later parts instead.
As a long-time League of Legends player and supporter main, I’ve noticed a trend among my fellow summoners: an alarming number of us have been rushing Warmog’s Armor as our first or second item. While Riot Games may think that the item is in a decent spot right now, I strongly disagree.
- Absorb Life
- Healing: 2-20 (linear scaling) ⇒ 1-23 (following base stat progression) ( Note: This is a nerf levels 1-12 and a buff levels 13-18.)
- Warmogs Armor
- Warmog’s Heart Health Requirement: 1300 ⇒ 1500 bonus health
ARAM Balance Changes
Aram Nerfs
- Lulu: Shielding Done: 105% ⇒ 100%; Damage Dealt: 105% ⇒ 100%
- Thresh: Damage Taken: 100% ⇒ 105%
- Viego: Damage Taken: 95% ⇒ 100%
- Zeri: Damage Taken: 90% ⇒ 100%
New Game Mode: Swarm
In addition to the major summer event in this League of Legends update, Riot is unveiling an exciting new PvE game mode with a bullet hell twist. This mode will introduce a few select champions and offer fresh perspectives on League of Legends through innovative and enjoyable experiences.
Individuals have the option of taking on this task alone or joining forces with others, allowing a maximum of four people to collaborate. They will encounter waves of monsters and engage in battles against formidable foes such as Rek’Sai and Aatrox. These encounters are expected to be challenging initially but ultimately rewarding and enjoyable. Riot Games have reassured players that it is normal to experience failure at the outset.
Skins In LoL Patch 14.14: First Batch Of Anima Squad Skins
In the upcoming LoL patches, Riot will unveil Anima Squad skins for League of Legends. For Patch 14.14, rioters can anticipate the Yuumi prestige skin and Seraphine’s legendary skin. The remaining prestige (Leona) and legendary (Aatrox) skins are scheduled to debut two weeks later, in LoL Patch 14.15.
- Battle Dove Seraphine
- Cyber Cat Yuumi
- Prestige Cyber Cat Yuumi
- Battle Bat Xayah
- Battle Bunny Aurora
- Primordian Bel’Veth
- Primordian Rek’Sai
The upcoming League of Legends patch, numbered 14.14, is set to drop on July 17, 2024. This patch brings an exciting new development: the introduction of the swarm game mode, along with the long-awaited arrival of Aurora on the Summoner’s Rift battlefield.
